I definitely think this would be fun and interesting. However, i think Tein SRC coilovers would be better when used with r compounds. They are also not much more expensive than KWs. Expect to see me as a participant next year .

I'm pretty new to the S2000 world and have been trying to decide how I can get to a trackday or get on the track period. This sounds exactly like what I've been waiting for and I would be willing to spend a couple thousand to meet the rules.

I'd make it to every Westcoast day for sure!

I wasn't recommending that the Koni be converted to coil-overs...rather use the stock springs to keep cost down.

I agree that the KW's have far more potential than the Koni...but then so do Hoosiers compared to Toyos. For the spec tire, it appears a choice was made to make the series somewhat affordable. Hoosiers are expesive and do not last very long, but they offer a lot more stick than a Toyo.

Say we run street tires instead of R compounds. This seems like it would avoid the slippery slope with the suspension, etc. All cars would be completely stock with whatever street tire (unless we get a sponsor) they choose. This would surely allow for the most participation while keeping everyone equal.

I realize that tires+suspension, are the best bang for the buck on the track. I just wanted this option to be considered as well. Nonetheless, this series is a great idea and I hope it catches on out East here.

Drew, a "Spec" series means just that. All cars are prepped to the same set of rules, the same set of mods, weigh the same, run the same tires etc.

There should be no points for other mods, no variance in what's allowed on the car if you really want it to be Spec S2K. That's the only way to make driver skill the measured variable.

EDIT: This does not preclude making competition adjustments to try to equalize different models of the same car the way Spec Miata does for the three eligible models (early 1.6, early 1.8, late 1.8).

^ I fundamentally agree, but once wheels, tires, shocks, and wing are standardized, performance is basically set. The moderate points limit Drew's talking about will just to allow people to not tear up their cars taking out mods that don't do much anyway. Ex: I have a flywheel and header that I just don't see removing for the sake of this series.

So, let's set hard and fast rules on those four things:
Wheels: OEM AP1 5-spokes, 16x6.5 front, 16x7.5 rear
Tires: Spec (RA1 or NT01, whichever works out), 225/50 fr, 245/45 rear
Suspension: KWv3 as sold by GFL, BSK permitted
Wing: None (OEM spoiler allowed).
