Here's what's gonna happen this year: You are gonna have a bunch of guys at 210 or 220 points w/o supercharger that don't have a chance in unlimited. - Slick Rick, esq.
Hmmmm, I'm not seeing this. We haven't really changed the points at all, in fact we've effectively increased the allowed points. If I still had my car I would have to buy a wing to get up to the max points, whereas before I was right at 200. If I still had my car I'd be at:

Coilovers 75
RA-1/Kumho's 50
Rear Wing 25
Front swaybar 15
Intake 15
VAFC 15
Flywheel 10
Rollbar -10

= 195pts.

That's an awful lot of mods to do to a car. Do you really want cars to have more than all that stuff before getting bumped to UL?

For the above mods, the cheapest this would cost is around $4500, not counting installation. You could get the best stuff and spend $7200, and that doesn't count tire costs of course. This math doesn't even count cat-back exhaust, brake ducting, brake lines, and all that other stuff you can do in under the STOCK allowances if you want (x-brace, thermostat, heat shield, etc.).

This is supposed to be a cost-controlled class. Someone who wants to do more than that, can go UL. If we're trying to have a somewhat "spec" series, increasing the points even more doesn't make sense. The point system in MOD, as they stand now, allow for a VERY WELL prepped track car, which is the point of this class.

slick rick, what setup are you thinking of running that won't allow you to fit into the 200pt limit? Tell us this and then maybe we can help you.

coilovers
spec tires
brakes
cai

different pistons (mine are worn out)
Porsche hillclimb rear wing with speed sensitive leveling which measures the amount of drag and electronically adjusts the brake bias.
Formula 3 type individual throttle bodies

I wish we still had the mod class...

Replace your pistons with oem to avoid points there?

That autoadjustable wing and brake bias tweaking is very intriguing and have I not heard of such pieces. Any more info you can give on them?

Run UL with the mods you like and just see how things go?

NOS is 100pts because it gives lots of power like a supercharger and is very expensive since engine's cost $5,000.

cthree,

I've seen wings for $300 from JSP. Tom at 7's Only will build you a Lotus Elise Sport type wing for around $300 I think.

Thanks Aaron, seems the bar (or wing at the case may be) has been raised
