How much do these trailers and hitches go for?

How many folks mount their race rubber at home, and drive to the events? Wear rate?

I mount my Kumhos at home the night before an autocross, but the stadium is only 12-15 freeway miles, so I'm not real concerned about the wear. A lot of local autocrossers mount their race tires at home, but people from LA generally trailer their race tires. Lots of Miata owners have a hitch and trailer for their race tires.

I've been wanting to get my car out to a track, but the lack of any way to get my race tires there has been the limiting factor. I'll be moving into a house with a three-car garage in a few months, so a small trailer is a definite possibility. The local autocrossers use a trailer from Harbor Freight. Home Depot has a simliar trailer.

Gregg, do you have a guesstimate of how much the hitch weighs? I looked on hitch-web and it didn't give the weight of the hitch itself. Thanks.

I did weigh it. I can't find where I wrote it down, but from memory the receiver is 16 lbs and the removeable ball mount is 5 lb including ball. The ball mount is custom made for the car and is included with the hitch. You only have to add the ball itself.

For the moment the H-A net link from last Sept is back.

repeats much of what has been discussed and confirms weight.

By the way when I went to Lubbock in November to test drive Steve Suscy's car it was 350 miles each way, with the return trip in the rain. I had zero car or trailer problems.
