Boxster fun....
Why are you even here? You don't own or aspire to own an S2000
Even if he doesn't , there are plenty of non-owners S2000 "enthusiasts" on this board. You don't have to be an owner to love this car

Just my 2 cents
Geez a couple more responses...
Ok in order...
Mr Laporta, I didn't post to make you look bad but only to point out that you don't follow Porsches like I do, the same way that I don't follow S2000's like you do, although I do visit this board from time to time. Porsche upping the engine size in the Boxster S in 2003 looks like it will happen, as some semi-official sources have said yes, although I don't think it has been 100% confirmed. Would getting the 3.4L and more HP be sweet ? Absolutely, Would it raise the price of the car? Probably very little, as I was pointing out the engines are basically the same, I don't recall if it is bore or stroke that is different between the 3.2 and 3.4L, but it would not be some $15,000 price increase as you suggested. You were the one claiming a 30% price increase and that simply isn't true. In fact you were saying that you'd probably have to buy the next gen M Roadster instead because they were only around 46K. Have you priced the next gen M Roadster yet? Since BMW hasn't released pricing, you can only assume that the price will stay the same, when in fact according to one BMW manager at a car show in Germany, BMW's entire Z line may increase in price substantially, perhaps into the 60-70K range. I think you must agree that a major redesign like the one the BMW Z series is getting will be more costly than simply swapping in a different engine block and a few other engine components right?
Since the 911 is getting improvements as well I suspect that the price difference between the Boxster S and the 911 will remain about the same. My "Guess" at the base price for a Boxster S will be 55K, or up from the 52K that it is today, the base Boxster that is 42K may go up to 44K or 45K.
Your 'agrammatica' is showing up again and your fixation on price doesn't make sense. Are you going to argue that the Honda S2000 is an economy car that the price/performance ratio is better than say a Chevy Lumina? Of course ANY performance car is going to cost more on a price/performance ratio. There is an excellent discussion about this on the Boxster Board right now, you should join in over there, you might learn a thing or two about the Boxster and Porsche in general. The S2000 is even mentioned in the thread.
BTW, who, other than Ed Black (and that's by his choice), is my enemy here?
Chris S,
I thought this forum was open to everyone? I like talking about different cars especially ones that friends of mine own or that I've driven or that I like certain things about. I'm not here to bash the S2000, more so here, in this thread anyway, to set the record straight regarding the Boxster/Boxster S. I can also provide, and have provided, information on the BMW M Roadster since I owned one of those as well. My financial background is non of your concern and I don't talk about it here or anywhere else for that matter. I think I can choose for myself how I "waste" my time. BTW, does that mean that anyone who posts here is simply wasting their time or is it just me? I don't feel like I am wasting my time as I am learning more about the S2000 and some other aspects of cars in general, the same way I learn on Porsche, BMW, Ferrari and other sites.
Moneeb,
Nope, I don't own an S2000, the yellow one pictured in those photos next to my Boxster S is owned by Mr Laporta. Thanks for recognizing that you don't have to be an owner to be an enthusiast.

Well ty for responding. I agree that the boxster is a great car and more hp would be great. well my aggrammatica must mean that i make grammer mistakes while typing. I dont think anyone here cares about peoples grammer as long as you can read it so why do you care so much about grammer...are u and englissh techer.Anyway Lets stick to the topic. I think when you realize there is no answer for my question you spin it around to something else. I think the price of the boxster is too high and I think you are wrong when you say it might go up a bit. It will go up signifcantly but we just have to wait. My original point is cars like the m roadster, vette, and s2000 are cars that offer all if not more perf for much less and I would own them before getting raped by porsche. It is like the old chrysler commercial with ricardo montalban. There is regular leather and then there is rich corinthian leather. Same leather just with the rich corinthian name makes some people want it more. You said it best yourself when you went with me to the s2000 meeting last month. You asked if other people were bringing their girlfriends and I said not sure and you stated well maybe I should bring angela(attractive girl with big blonde hair)so people see that you pick up hot chicks in a porsche!!!!!!
Final comment is people buy the s2000 cause thats what they want. people buy porsche cause thats what will impress others.
I should point out that s2ken and I are friends in real life so these emails are no a personal attack but just fun ramblings.
btw you never answered my last question.. I would like to know more info on the ferrari. Please tell me more about the ownership of the 360.

Yes, but as you responded, I met Angela when I was driving the Probe... hmmm now there was a car women couldn't resist...
My point is not to argue over the points about Porsche because you don't have the background or knowledge about Porsche or the Boxster, it would be like me trying to tell the Giants how to run their defense when I don't know anything about the Giants defense, I just know something about football. You know something about cars, but your statement that people buy Porsche to impress others or the Porsche rapes buyers is completely inaccurate and only shows your lack of knowledge about all things Porsche. I'm not trying to make a Porsche "convert" out of you, only stating the obvious that you need to spend some time brushing up on Porsche before you make such statements. If anyone does raping, it is the Honda dealers (note I said Dealers, and not Honda itself, although Honda could put a stop to it). Porsche doesn't allow its dealers to charge over MSRP, Honda does as is obvious from that one dealer near your house that still thinks it can command a 5K premium on all of its S2000's. Must be why they are sitting on the lot still. I could sit here and say that all S2000's are junk because there has been a #4 cylinder problem, but I'd be talking out my arse because I don't know any of the details of the problem or how many cars have been affected. Please, at least take the time to visit the Boxster site and read up on the cars and manufacturers you put down before doing so.
Sorry I forgot to talk about owning a 360. Hmmm the best way to describe it is like owning a piece of art, but not one that hangs on the wall, one that plays a symphony of music every time you start it and one that can take you from place to place! I guess you'll see tonight when you come over...

Well i went to the site once and almost vomited. 50 guys claiming to have the magic boxster that has the secret extra hp to ease their troubled mind and empty wallets. No thanks Ill take my s2000 or if I want a porsche I will sell my soul and buy a 911. Hell the 911 owners dont even respect the boxster owners. they view them as wanna be porsche 911 owners. I dont want to be involved with people like that. I know plenty about engineering cars and porsche in particular. I can read. I just choose not to associate with arrogant eletist porsche owners who need to impress people with there "I have arrived because I own a porsche" I know who I am and where I am going and dont need an emblem to show anyone else. it is called self confidence. Porsche could put a reasonable priced real-performance car in the 30 or 40's. They choose not to because the masses would buy it taking away from the fat old men who buy there cars.
I am sure they make fun of our cars over there also. I just choose to be with the kind of people who buy this car. You cant have it both ways.
Now what to do with the 20,000 i saved on the s2000. Oh thats right bought a 4x4 for the winter and getting a jet ski for the summer L8er. dont you wish you could afford a second car to drive when it is foul weather out and your fiancee is at work. Call me I will give you a lift.

I don't know much detail about Porsche, but I do think it is overpriced, and would buy BMW M Roadster, or even S2K instead. I've seen S2K kick Boxter S' ass on the track but not the other way around

With all due respect Ken, it seems that you are justifying purchase of Boxter S over S2K here...
guys my girlfriend just read all of this thread and pointed out who silly ken and i are and how much time I am wasting. She is correct. Ken love your car and I will love mine. If you spent 200,000 on a ferrari great for you. I will not come over tonight so you can face me with it like you did the boxster. You accidently led me in the garage to discover it. answer one simple question with one simple answer did you a buy a real life ferrari, not a model or a poster. did you buy it y/n. I am afraid i will not be able to come over until i know the truth not wanting to get faced
I await your answer
