i would say it was an srt-4, but it may also be a regular neon. I have seen the neons built to run mid 12's. seen two in one day which me and my buddies were clowning until they ran there times. they look like shit but dam fast. find out what he has first.

i say give him a run for his money. I have a good feeling you'll win. Especially from a 45mph roll.

fair enough, so everyone seems to think it's the SRT-4 as well. I think it almost has to be because I can't see doing too much to a neon and thinking you're going to beat a modded S2000.

Yeah, I figured he might have had a bottle in there, but I would think he'd want to race from a dig, not from a 45mph roll. I was pumped when he said 45 mph roll, that's the perfect scenario for my car. We're trying to set it up for next Thursday because he won't have money until then. If I find out any more info on the car, I'll post it. If not, I'll let you guys know how it went.

Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it.

Dave
From a 45mph roll... u should pull away nicely if you're S/C'd.

there are some good points being made, that I was worried about also.

He says "when he wins" he will show me that's it's a 4 cylinder. I would think with my big ears, I could hear otherwise before the race. I've always been a "race for fun" kind of guy, never raced for money before. He won't race for fun though, so I'm hoping I'll be able to hand him his arse for being such a dick about it. He won't say anything about his car, so of course I haven't uttered a word about mine either. I just know what his clutsy girlfriend said monday night...4 cylinder, beat stock s2000 by 4 car lengths, and I'm pretty sure I heard her tell my co-worker's girlfriend it was a new car. My co-worker's girlfriend is being no help to me at all, and won't mention anything to me or my co-worker. I also asked her if it was an SRT-4, and her exact response was "no, it's just a plain old 4 cylinder dodge neon." I don't know if I can take that seriously though, because she seems like she wouldn't know the difference between a neon and a hummer. I guess I'll find out next thursday. I'm not handing over my money to our "mutual friend" until I at least get to see/hear his car. I will definitely let everyone know how it goes, and what I can guess that he had. I really do think he has an SRT-4, or a big turbo on a regular neon. Either way, I would think I would win unless he's got a bottle hooked up as well.

Ahhh, I guess we'll figure it out later.

Thanks for the responses guys!
Dave

Don't underestimate the neon. Hahn race craft makes turbo kits for neons. If I recall correctly, they are pretty fast capable of at least low 13's to even 11's...I know this because Mr. Hahn himself use to race the neon himself a few years ago.
here's a link:

or he is full of $hit.

From a SRT4 Owner: I don't think they even got 1/4 a car on me before I start pulling hard. I think I put about 4-5 cars on them going into 4th, didn't expect to do so well really. At the next light I'm in the left turning lane and they take a right turn flying around the corner, which I guess is all that car is good for. I checked the specs just now and they have 240hp and 153tq . Why so much horsepower with no torque?..

I'd be wary, but if you've got the money to spare you might as well go for it.
