challenged by a neon?

Something seems shady about this entire setup. You being supercharged is ur trump card but doesn't assure u a victory. I'm not saying you shouldnt race the guy, jus be cautious. And get it on tape!!
When the girl comes up and proposes the race, and somehow has numbers to quote (both cash numbers and/or engine stats). . . I smell something rotten. BTW, this isn't to say that girls do, or don't know about anything about cars, this is to say that someone other than the driver is propositioning me for the race.
Remember, there's money on the line. I'd get plenty of witnesses, and make sure a good number of them take a look at the car. Have him rev the engine, and look for NOS valves/piping. As well as anything else.
As far as smelling out a rat, keep in mind you're doing business with him (gambling, basically). If you smell something rotten, just walk. The worse thing he'll do is call you names. If he can't stand behind his car, he can't really stand behind a loss, which means that beating him is a win you yourself can't stand behind. Remember, loose because you raced; don't loose because you got hustled.
and yeah, getting it on tape will make him honest. Get the engine on tape too.
Oh, and one last thing, yes, with the Quaife diff, an SRT-4 will get a good jump. Bonus if the driver knows what he/she's doing. Learn a 5th gear jump between now and then.
alright, whether this is him or not, I talked to a friend of mine today and asked him if he knew about any neons around here with any kind of power, and he said he was riding with a friend of his in his friend's CRX that's putting down 375 hp, and then he's got a 100 shot on top of that. They said a yellow neon pulled up next to them and instigated a race. He says the neon looked like a POS, and took it as a joke. He hasn't had much problem with anyone around here except for two well built supras and 2 rx-7's with 3 rotors and a big turbo in them (which are friends of ours so we kind of expected it anyway). Anyhow, he takes off (with the bottle) and the neon stayed right with him the entire run...no one pulled on anyone. We're trying to get ahold of the guy with the CRX to see if he knows if this is the guy challenging me. I also heard today that there's a yellow SRT-4 that's putting down 430 with his mods and a bottle. If either of the two turn out to be the guy challenging me, it's not going to happen.
It just makes me mad to know that some random person is challenging me and I've yet to even meet him face to face...and what ever happened to racing for fun? I've raced tons of people that I knew I could beat, or even that I thought would take me no problem...all for fun. It's a hobby, not my idea of income. I like knowing how my car competes with <insert model/mods>. Ahh well, I guess some people are just like that. I'll know more info from the guy with the CRX Wednesday night, so I guess we'll see if I've narrowed the search down.

SRT-4's only loose HP in the top of 3rd/4th because of stock boost drop because of there weak non-adjustable WGA. If they have a single mod to hold boost (WGA or the $1 spring mod) they will eat S2k's all day long up top. Don't be fooled into thinking these cars are slow from a roll they are after all FWD Turbo cars.
Also a SRT-4 engine can go to 500whp on stock internals and 400+ is almost a possitive with a turbo swap. The most you can get out of these beast with a stock 15g is 350whp (No N20).
My Friends 2004 SRT-4 has AGP Billet WGA/Turbo XS MBC/ Mopar Stage1/AGP Monster FMIC/AGP Motormounts/Typhoon Intake/Iceman TB/B&B TurboBack/MSD Coil/8mm performance plugwires/ED Hardpipes/Forge SurgeValve. Set at 18.5psi spike/16.5psi to redline put down 332whp and a 12.3@118mph with the help of some Slicks on the front.

srt-4's are cheezy...without those FI of theirs...they would probably have 130hp...hahahah
compared to us with 240hp...with FI...say goodbye to the 4's in the back of their heads..

Why don't you meet up with this guy... If you find out that his car is pushing 400hp with N2o then don't race him. If the guy is a dick and not tell you or meet up with you, don't even bother...think about it!!! you might end up messing up your motor for a stupid race. you might win
$400 but you might spend $2000 to fix your car if something goes wrong. just my 2 cents

I'm with DoleMike...he makes a good point. Tell they guy to show up with his car and talk the "deal", versus having his moronic gf talking trash for him. If he ain't man enough to show up and discuss this "race", then just call it off. Who knows what his/their intentions are (theft, etc). No face, no car, no race.
