Minor mods
Those mods are definitely enough to have good races with the Rs, but a lightly modded one will still pull on you. Those things weigh 2,500 lbs and have much MUCH better gearing than a 1.8T. I do believe that you can pull hard on an R if you get a nice jump and the R driver just isn't shifting the way the R needs to be. The 1.8t is much more forgiving. I don't think you can walk all over a properly driven R by any means, and if you wanna run you can come vacation in miami beach and we'll do it here!

No, I was just kidding about racing you....

I obey the speed limit and have never raced a GTI up to 150mph, or 149 mph to be exact.....

i hung with a MCoupe up to 150 something,
Odd because they are speed limited to 137. (excepting the 01's and 02's which would put bus lengths on you at any speed with your listed horsepower).

I doubt a lightly modded one will pull on me, they just dont have the torque. I will admit that they do have a better gear ratio, but what good is gear ratio with no HP to back it up.
Your torque does not mean a damn thing. We are talking about a car which can run mid 14's stock (ITR) vs one that can run mid 15's stock (VW) -- even with it's additional torque. (note to self, those mustang GT's that everyone is beating with S2k's can't be real -- they have more torque than the S2k after all).

Of course with enough $$ you can make any car fast -- but stock for stock the GTI has nothing on the ITR. It accelerates much slower, stops much slower, corners much slower. It does have a nice interior though.

191 dynoed HP
232 dynoed Torque
Is that flywheel or at the wheels? If it aint at the wheels you would be lucky to hang with a stock GSR.

-Steve (who sometimes reads the VW boards to get a good chuckle).

I'd hope that's at the wheels with 22psi... Are you still running the stock turbo??

-Cravn (who just drove steve's M, and is now saving for coilovers... )
