I have heard of LS1/5.0's that have run just fine and when the heads were taken off the owner noticed signes of detonation and pock-marked pistons and had NO CLUE! why it was the way it was. No KR or ping, or knock or anything. I would be careful is all I am saying.
hmmm, now you got me all paranoid. maybe i should take a down a notch....? i ran at 13.6:1 for along time. but then i do trust my tuner, he spend about an hour setting it up. see whata you did, thanks alot!

I know 2 tuners in my town. One will give you 10whp more than the other one. HOWEVER! the engines he tunes typically last 1 race season at the strip and he has a VERY loyal following of those who RACE ONLY! and re-build every/every other season. The other tuner has a VERY loyal following of people who DONT like to re-build often. Why don't you take it down to a 13.0:1 and see how much hp suffers? I am betting you wont lose too much and you MAY! gain a hair! Who knows, just a thought.

13.0:1 is kinda rich, even among most tuners 13.5:1 is the most common afr. with forged internals i think that 13.5 and even my 13.9 is probably not that dangerous. my vafc2 is tuned for only WOT anyway and its not like im WOT everyday, or for 20min at a time.

Us domestic guys use 13:1 as pretty standard. I guess that shows me the difference in a small, VTEC motor vs. the pushrod stuff. I was unaware you guys ran that lean and it was okay. Given this info I dont think 13.9 is too bad, but to me as a domestic owner it sounds FREAKISH! lol.

Sounds good! I still think ur a bastard for making more hp than most 4.6L 96-04 mustangs with mild bolt-ons, lmao!

(I always loved how the 4.6L 99-04 mustang guys got so pissed at losing to S's and denying it.)
