Not really. I believe the JDM engines run a slightly thinner head gasket which gives higher compression and a few more HP, but basically it's the same engine. There's no reason to think that we would get an engine more powerful than Japan does when currently it's the exact opposite.

A magazine I subscribe to stated that it will have roughly 165 ft./lbs. of torque and 240 horsepower. Yeah the same amount of HP. With a lower redline, and more torque, the engine will be more "flexible".

dont you think that if the hp goes from 240 to 260, the torque might go from 153 to 170?

20 more HP and 17 more lb-ft of torque is a tall order
2.2L is a 10% increase over 2.0L ---
260hp (264 really) is a 10% increase over 240 ---
170tq (168 really) is a 10% increase over 153 ---

Depending upon whether you believe it or not, Road and Track had the S2000 out the same day as the Z06 Corvette (see the "Sibling rivalry" article).

They CLAMIED that the S got a 0-60 time of 4.9, and the 06 was 4.6. Of course, the vette ran away from everyone else in the slalom...

It's possible to get "in the 4s", at least reported. It depends upon how realiable the info is though.
