2.2L Engine swap

Yep.
Of course there is no actual data to back this up, but I'm sure the 2.2 can handle 8,500 rpm. 9,000 would definitely be a stretch. Part of the problem is also whether or not the 2.2 would even make decent power revved that high. You would probably need to be looking at further tuning to take "advantage" of the extra 1,000 rpm.
Then of course there is the fact that the piston speeds on the 2.2 @ 8,000 to 8,200 are approx. equal to those of the 2.0 @ 9,000 to 9,200 rpm.

simply put if you would give the 2.2 some more rpms you will not feel any decrease in power. My opinion. Just based on how my 04 feels.
It like your in gear and you're climbing up rpms cars moving great vtec pops and car changes attitude completely( of course) and right when oyur gonna shift the car is like wait wait dont shift yet homie i still got more!!!! aaaaaaah w/e jus elt like writing tht.........lol
Hello,
I wish I knew of this forum sooner, I have been running an F22 longblock in my MY01 for about 6 months now with no problems at all. I have intake, exhaust, race pipe, and a dyno tuned VAFC 2. I go to 9k alot but I avoid long periods of time between 8500-9000 in the higher gears. I hope I can be of some help on this topic.
With this swap an engine management is not needed but i have seen this done with out it and it set off the CEL for running lean codes I have never had a CEL but i would say that is because of the VAFC and i have my vtec kick in at 5400. IT IS NOT A WASTE AT ALL! I ran a MY01 with I/H/E and beat him by at least 6 cars by 120. No lie.

^ that's a whole different question.
I'm still interested in the ECU swap. It seems to be reasonable and a great mod for the money.
I want to err on the side of caution, i.e. rich, to lessen the chance of blowing the engine. So, would a VFAC be at all helpful for more advanced tuning, or is it a waste of money with the 01 ECU on an AP2?

any problems or warnings at all for us who are thinking of doing it? does your redline just keep flashing? how do you know when u hit 9k?
To be safe i would say only go to 9k in 1st-3rd gears to avoid long periods in 8500-9000. I know i'm at 9 just like i did before the swap, some of you are talking about the ecu swap, i just did the long block swap into a MY01. the same but different.hehe

how bout for us who have ap2 gauges that only say 8k?

or you can get Modifry's shift beeper and program it go off at 9000 rpm
or you can get one of those huge autometer tachometers
Well I would have to say that seeing your actual RPM would be very important to me. So the shift beeper would work i'm sure, but I would rather see it for myself. So i guess if an ap1 or jdm ap2 cluster is not availible, i hate to say it, but i think some sort of aftermarket tach will be needed.
