I've been driving the S2k almost exclusively for 2 years now without much complaint. You can usually manage whatever you need to do. However, I can always borrow my wife's SI hatch if I need to.

But now I've been getting into some different things. I got a new mountain bike, then I broke my leg and started racing RC cars (dorky, I know, but fun). So now I'm starting to think about getting something else with more space. STI would be nice, still fun but my dog could ride in it.

Bottom line is that I'm glad that I bought the S, it's been a blast and if I had more space I would probably keep it for weekend drives.

Well, I got a question that put me into an S is:

WHAT CAN I LIVE WITHOUT _____ AND WHAT I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT _____?

To me:
I can live without an _Si_, and I can NOT live without _S2000_!!!!

i owned an RSX and it was pretty darn good. fun to drive, pretty quick, and the rear seats split 50/50 and folded flat. i fit a lot of snowboarding gear and a couple suitcases in it a few times. when you don't have the gear, you can fit one person in the back seat semi-comfortably (sitting sorta diagonally) or two people in a pinch.

i'm thinking that the civic SI coupe has roughly the same dimensions, but i'm too lazy to look it up. kind of the same concept, though.

btw, i DD my S2000 and love it. as someone else said on here, there's nothing better than getting off work late, dropping the top, and cruising on home. it's a good feeling, and i'm pretty sure no kind of sunroof could replicate it.

i rarely need more space than the trunk of the S2000, and if i do need to move some bigger things, i hit up my gf, sister, or friends to do the hauling. the trunk is really usable, however, for 99% of what i need (groceries, weekend trips, etc).

if you think about it, how often do people with sedans (and no children) use their back seats? pretty rarely. i also owned a TSX for a year and the back seats were probably used 10 times, if that. also, i did use the trunk, but 99% of the time, i could have fit it in the S2000's trunk.

there are drawbacks and tradeoffs with everything in life. with the S2000, you gain:

a sick 2.0 or 2.2L engine
great handling
one of the better looking cars out there

...but it all comes at the expense of a backseat and a larger trunk. it's up to you to decide where your priorities lie. my priorities are obvious

ok I had the 06 si and ended up trading it in for my s, my friend had the 08 mugan si drove my car once, and now is looking for an s. enough said, If it is space your worried about I use it for a daily driver even with new england winters. i had something i needed to move my gf's suv wasn't big enough i took out the passenger seat and top down fit great, so space is there u just have to be a little more creative. plus it is way easier to mod an s2k then the si there is no space in the engine bay of the si.

As of now, I don't use much space at all and I find a 2 seater would be suitable for me (not to mention theres some trunk space). My main worry is in the future if I have to buy something and I won't have 'room' or the occasional third passenger, this is where the Civic SI comes in.
Surely you've heard of borrowing or renting?

As for the occasional 3rd passenger, I haven't missed the ability. My S is my DD and my only car.

Worrying about having to haul stuff that will happen 10% of the time or less is going to get you in an oversized SUV that spends all its time empty except for the driver like most 'Merkins. Don't do it. Get your priorities straight.

On the other hand, if you're always hauling people and stuff then don't get an S.

Yea, I get what you're saying lol 90% of the time I have one passenger...and luggage that would take up not even 1/4 of the S2000 trunk. But there have been really random occasions when I'll buy a chair, computer..or something 'boxy' or, I would have to drive drunk people home from a party. Other than that, hey, I guess it's not my fault the S doesn't have more seats!

Furthermore, a lot of people who cry about more space really dont even use the space. It's always cluttered with garbage cause they never clean their car out and are pack rats. The s2k's trunk isn't that bad at all. Perfect bachelor's car.

before I got the S i test drove an SI, and i enjoyed it, but bottom line... every time i see one, i think to myself... that guy/girl COULD have gotten a used S for the same price.

as for space... the first time in a year of DDing this car i actually wished i had a 3rd seat: couple friends got a little drunker at the bar than they planned and i was sober.. couldn't fit both, so they both walked. Thats the first and only time I've missed that extra space.

I've fit 2 girls in the passenger seat, no problems there...

S2000 vs Si? c'mon man, your in an S2000 forum....how about an S2000 AND an Si . You dont know how much stuff you can get into an S2000 cause you dont own one yet. Let me tell you, there is alot of stuff you can fit in there. I can fit a floor jack, 2 jackstands, a folding chair, 3 bags of tools, 1 box of track stuff, and 1 helmet...and i have the cd player back there. You only live once and civics will always be around. How you gonna feel when your cruising in your nice clean Si with your girl and a nice clean S2000 cruises by?
