Thats a crazy price for S2000s in Australia...a 50k Aus$ difference wow.
OP, if you're even considering not getting the S because you feel the need for more room to haul OTHER people then I would just get the Civic Si....I'm sorry I know you wanted the hear the exact opposite which is why you're posting on this board. If you really want the S, you're just gonna have to be selfish and go for it.

Well that's not a hard decsion, that is like asking if you'd rather fly an F-16 or a C-17

By the way I fit all of my ice hockey gear in my trunk. and I have 2 helmets and tons of other junk in my hockey bag. I can fit inside my hockey bag. (that is how big it is)

My wife and I went through the same thing. So, we ended up getting both! :-P

Both great cars - I have respect towards the SI after driving it hard, for the price - excellent machine.

I went through this decision myself. I test drove both cars and I was immediately sold to the S2k... There's just no comparison. In fact, I wish I had purchased this car sooner. As for space, like everyone's already mentioned, the S2k 90% of the time, has more than enough.

When I shopped for the S2k, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into. I've definitely had instances when I wished I had four seats or had extra cargo space, but the enjoyment and smile I get from driving this car EACH time is sooooo worth it. This is the perfect daily driver for me. Fun trip to and from the office ... a scenic trip during lunch to help relieve stress ... it just can't be beat.

Lastly, did I mention how great the S2k would be at the track compared to the civic

Ok. The dark-side to all this... cost. The S2k is more expensive to own - your insurance will be higher and your maintenance and replacement parts will be more expensive (i.e. tires).

In any case, good luck with the decision. My guess is that if you get the SI, you will want that S2k each time you see one on the road, but not the other way around.

I could never DD my S. What do you do when you need to shop at Home Depot, or get a big load of groceries?
Que? The S will hold an overflowing shopping cart of groceries plus 2 people. No problem.

BTW, the wife and I have travelled for a week in the S. Luggage, car wash supplies and a cooler.

Ok, I've done my research for a couple of months and I've come | | that close to buying an S2000. I know how great it handles, and how fun it is to drive, but theres still one last thing bothering me. The space. I might sound crazy, but the most I ever carry with me is a couple of bags and my laptop which takes up next to nothing. My girlfriend only carries her purse around which is also pretty small. As of now, I don't use much space at all and I find a 2 seater would be suitable for me (not to mention theres some trunk space). My main worry is in the future if I have to buy something and I won't have 'room' or the occasional third passenger, this is where the Civic SI comes in. I still really want the S2000, but I was wondering what you guys would do if you carried as much cargo as me? And, does the trunk suit your everyday driving / shopping trips?
I don't know how you can compare the two cars. One is FWD and the other is RWD. One is a hardtop the other is a cabrio. They really do not compete. To me if you are concerned about space requirements, don't buy the S2K. If it's for you you won't need more than what the truck and passenger seat can offer you. Good luck!!!

Whenver I need a room for 3rd passenger, I just squeeze them in my passenger seat. I have done it countlessly and even got discounts for car pool in tolls .
But this was under the condition of 2 passengers being female ONLY.

Once you get used to not having 3rd passenger, everything is going to be fine, no one bothers you for ride.

I would NEVER get Civic cuz S2K got no room.
