Acid rain
A friend of mine was told by his Honda dealer that ther is a special protectorant against acid rain that they could apply for about $600.00. Anybody ever hear about this ????? anybody, anybody ??????
Seriously, that sounds more like a costly marketing gimmick. If you love your car and you maintain it well with the usual car wash and patience of proper waxing and buffing. It will save you from acid rain attacks definitely. Even a nicely waxed car barely has water stains even after driving in hard rain conditions when it's dried off. No joke, that's how my car looks like anyway and I don't have any acid rain protection package.
Without wax or some kind of paint protectant, rain left to dry on the car will etch the paint (I found this out when I had a fender repainted and couldn't wax it because of curing time
). If you have some kind of paint protector or sealant on it, this won't happen. By sealant or protectant, I mean something along the lines of Zaino, Zymol, Finish First, or some other kind of wax.
Save yourself about $530 and get a complete set of Zaino!
BTW, if you use Zaino, you don't have to wait for the paint to cure to use it, so if you've had any paint work, just go for it!

As a dealer we sell a product like this, called Simonize for $325. It includes exterior paint protection and interior fabric/leather protection with a warranty. Most of the cost is in the warranty and the labor to put it on. For someone that doesn't want to take the time to do it themselves it is a great product but I would prefer to do it myself.
Just my $.02 worth!

Dealers will do anything to make an extra buck, including putting down bad sealant for inaccurate reasons.
Do it yourself, use the best protectant you can out there, since acid rain will etch the clearcoat, and there is no effective cure for this except repainting.
I would suggest a true synthetic made for protection with a great shine. Here are two that I like.
Zaino (for light colored cars)
Klasse (for darker colored cars) - Lasts longest in my opiinion
Beyond that, I wouldn't recommend anything else.
