Default AEM CAI intake question

where does that second tube go? and what purpose does it fulfill?

the reason why i ask is that im planning to get the j's racing intake or making a custom intake and i wanted to know if i can eliminate that tube by closing it off or by not attaching it to the intake without any problems..

any comments and advice would be appreciated.. thanks guys

(BTW by looking at where the tube leads (near the bottom portion of the driver side fender), i have a hunch that it goes to the air pump that helps the cat warm up faster during cold starts.. i just thought that i'd come here to verify..)

It goes to your airpump that's inside the left front bumper cavity.
You can eliminate that hose if you want. All you have to do is to install a sort of filter near the fender wall like they do for supercharger installations. Look here:

Correct me if I'm wrong, that thing is supposed to redirect small engine oil leaks or something from the engine into the intake. At least that's what I was told when I had an AEM on another car ...

He's asking about the green circled hose. The blue circled one is for the valve cover breather. That is the one that "can" introduce oil vapours from under the valve cover back into the intake. According to the schematic in the manual, that front breather is to bring fresh air into the valve cover, however, during certain states, gases will come out and into the intake.
The green one is as I described.

I don't even see the Platinum membership listed anymore. I think it was a limited time offer during the membership "appeal". You'd have to ask cthree about it. "Platinum" was a lifetime, one shot deal.
