26 when I had my Rio Yellow AP2 and I sold it to a 61 year old. The S2000 is a great car for all ages!

Four years ago I could have very well been this "intrusive to the S2000 community" age breaker. At 19 I pulled a loan out on this S with absolutely no family influences, be it money or knowledge of. But I've never raced, launched, smoked tires or tracked my car. I spend more time cleaning and detailing then I would ever at a car meet of any kind and have kept up with all maintenance.

In these 4 years I have noticed the very same thing the OP is addressing a poll for. The interests and mentality of many threads popping up are becoming much easier to identify the shift in age group of owners. It is frustrating to see a car being owned so easily at a younger age when it wasn't for some. That and the tone some threads reflect the nature of "ricer" owners using cheap parts as well as obnoxious eye sores.

Imagine owning a Lamborghini Countach at 30, only to see a teenager get one a few years later trying to swing Autozone specials. (not intended to burn Autozone)

I've seen the value of the S2000 drop significantly in 4 years and it is quite annoying. I will not claim the car as an investment nor should anyone else.

However, I'm sure this thread wasn't designed to point fingers of flame and resentment.

Edit: age 23

Stock S2000's will run you between 20,000-90,000$ AP2's don't go for under 40 (ever) and a good low km AP1 will be between 30-35,000$ due to the small amount that made it in to Aus. I can't believe you can get one for 10,000$ USD!

Sorry for the thread derail.

Australian law forbids importing any cars that were delivered or made here by the original manufacturer

Do it! Great times, great people, and will make you more confident in yourself and the car. No need to feel chicken about it. All autocrossers were noobs at some point!

There is no denying that the last 3 generations of humans have become increasingly stupid. Kids these days are cell phone dependent, can't figure out a simple math problem on the run and probably couldn't even tell you a single economic or political reason for the way they vote in the elections....

society is downgrading...it's undeniable.

All this talk abt the world is going down the tubes makes me laugh . The world has always had challenges ... the strong prevail and thrive imo . As for the age oF current S owners I agree in the fact that ...the "hella flush" talk is getting old quick ...but it is what it is ..a car and ppl will as always "mod" cars to improve them to their liking. Too each his own ...be in truth it's sad that ppl ruin one of the best cars ever made ..by improving it to look better .."subjective". bUT TO HANDLE BETTER ///LOL ..LIKE hONDA DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WHERE DOIN WHEN THEY SPENT MILLIONS TO ENGINEER ONE OF THE BEST HANDLING CARS EVER . Love my S more than any car Ive ever owned .. over 25 so far ...19 pf which were Hondas.I'm used to dealing with ricers for yrs now ..never really bothered me until ..I heard Badass car Yo ...Id slamed dat biacth to get it HELLA FLUSH ...wtf ..lol ..i thought i heard it all ...until this new tread showed up !! Its hella dumb If u ask me and yes im hella old ..im 41 ...lol ...kids and their trends

This thread is full of good posts and terrible posts. A lot of you have it right, but flaming entire generations of young people is rude and ignorant. People never realize agism exists, but would you be coming on these forums saying that "ALL THE BLACK PEOPLE THAT BUY THESE HERE CARS ARE GOOD FER-NOTHINS". no, you wouldnt, so it should not be any different to make such assumptions about age.

I am 20 years old. I paid for my S half upfront and have a loan for the rest. I am paying $400 a week towards my car.
I am not ignorant, I am not a mommas boy, I am not uneducated. I am 3/4 of the way to completing my mechanical engineering degree. I have a fulltime job as an engineer at a worldwide machinery manufacturing company. I have more knowledge and experience than most of the 40+ yr old engineers I work with. I have 2 employees working under me. At the age of 12 my best friend and I filed for a legal business permit to legitimize our landscaping and construction company. For 7 years I worked my ass off without the help of my parents to pay for the things I needed.

For 2 years I was vice-president of the University of Massachusetts Lowell's Formula SAE team. I designed, tested, and helped fabricate our 2010 Car's chassis, pedal box, engine mounts, torsen differential, suspension, and uprights. Being an engineer, I have a deep respect and appreciation for the incredible engineering that composes the S2000, which is one of the main reasons I decided on this car. Not because i wanted to pick up girls or drift or become hellaflush.

I keep my car in check on the streets. I do my racing at the track. I am a member of the scca and intent to attend the rest of the autox's this season.

I also slightly disagree with those who keep their S stock and take honda's engineering as god-say. Yes, the car was great from factory, but I will also consider that Spoon, J's Racing, and Mugen also spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in R&D to take honda's design even further to optimize their track cars. And if ASM decides that making the car lower, installing coilovers and an exhaust and racing seats etc makes a better race car, I will take their word for it because they sure as hell know what they're doing.
