Got in late on this one, but here's my $.02. Got a new head unit and the Pinky mod from my wife for my birthday. Ended up going with the Pioneer Premier DEH-P520. Got it cheaper from Pinky than I could've gotten online or from any local electronics shop. Belive me, I looked. I also asked him about wiring in a Pioneer Cellular Mute so when the phone rings in the car the radio mutes. Did that for the cost of the cell mute from Pioneer. Everything works great and it was installed and working in less than an hour. Simply instructions, easy to do. My only regret is that I live in Wisconsin and I have only been able to drive the car a handful of times since installing the damn thing! Works great though, and sounds even better.

Hi RU2KRDY

How much the DEH-P520 with adaptor cost? Hopeful for an answer if you're comfortable sharing this info.

As I said before. This is my mod that I made work. I do use something as a base to my mod. Once I make the changes to it and do it MY way. It is my mod!

Frankly my reason for not selling this as a single piece is that I dont want to be a tech service. If your that inventive to make this mod work by your self than by all means get the mod from a local shop. I am filling a specialty nitch in the market and that is the way I want to sell it. Do you tell Honda that you dont want the convertable top installed because your gonna put a roll cage on and you dont want the extra weight. NO: Cuz that is not how they sell the car.

STL: I worked my ACE off to 1. Find this product and 2. to make it work. If people really want to do it them selves then they have the right to research and find the PAC unit and buy it them selves. I just dont want to be apart of helping people "make" it work. When I know how to make it work and have it in that condition to sell. I just really did not feel like attracting attention to what I base my mod off of. I wanted people to look at who and what I was selling as a finished product.

Ah! Open Source with GPL or Resell modified parts and keep the secret. That is the debate for awhile. Personally, I really don't like to pay for anything else except the part that I get. For DIYers like me, I like advantures and technical know-hows. I have just ordered myself a SWI-3 from Circuit City after reading this post. STL, you are right. The more people who knows about it. The less people are willing to spend another extra $40-$70 for modified parts, if we have instruction on how to make SWI-3 work with our car. I am sure because of this post, Pinky will get more business on adaptor sales. Just one thing I don't understand is that why does Pinky need the whole unit. I think Pinky will be able to do the mod with just a remote. I know there is testing involved. But, since Pinky have so much stereo heads for sale. Can he just test with a unit that he has?

Anyway, that is just my $0.02 worth of comments. I will try to do thing myself and ask others in my company to help me. How hard could it be? It is just some electrons flowing throgh some wires. I promise, "IF" I get it to work, I will share with the board.

Pinky, I am not trying to destroy your business or Hobby income. There is nothing wrong that you keep the proceedure on how-to mod the SWI-3. By all means, you discover the solution and you should be able to sell it. I am happy for you that you found a solution for it. Just one thing I don't get, why you don't sell or modify MP3 players. I have a AIWA CDC-MP3 unit. Hey, it does the job and mine don't skip at all.

In the mean time, have fun and enjoy the car.
