Let me ask you something, if Mobil 1 was crap, then why is it factory fill on Vipers, BMW's, Cobra R's, Benz's, and other high performance cars out there? Surely, such respectable companies, would use crap!

If you guys think it's crap, prove that it's crap, okay? Don't just slander it as being crap without facts to back up your "opinions." I don't like Mobil 1 at all, but I do have my respect for it. I use Redline in everything, and will use Redline in my new S2000 shortly. Know this, that i'm an Amsoil dealer and have stopped, because I don't know about some of you guys, but I truly feel it's starting to become a religion, not to mention that i'm not into MLM's. I quit becoming an Amsoil dealer, because I got tired of hearing nothing but biassed S H I T coming out of the mouths of many Amsoil dealers, who think anything other than Amsoil must be crap. This is no offense to some of you Amsoil dealers on this board..........

Amsoil is a very good synthetic to answer your question. While Mobil 1 is more of a mid-level synthetic, Amsoil is good enough and priced high enough to compete against the best such as Redline and Royal Purple.

I been reading on a local forum where Amsoil has cause some engine failures, should I be worried? Should I switch to a more mainstream synthetic like Mobil 1? I only have 1000kms with the Amsoil so far so it isn't too late to get it out of there.

Guys, when you decide to switch to a full synthetic, keep this in mind. Amsoil and Redline is not API certified, and it's use thus could cause warranty issues should you have any engine trouble, since Honda requires that any oil you use is API certified. I'm not sure whether Royal purple is API certified or not. The only oil from Amsoil that is API certified is their semi-synthetic XL7500 line. If you are paranoid and want to stay safe, use Mobil 1, especially since it has national recognition among just about anyone. However, Amsoil and Redline are better oils. I too have heard engine failures occuring after using Amsoil, but it can't be proven that the oil caused it. For many years i've used nothing but Amsoil on all of my cars till recently since now I use only Redline. Amsoil is a very high quality oil and is a very excellent oil for street cars. Amsoil actually buys their PAO's from Mobil, which is no secret. Redline is a different type of oil as it's basestock consists of diethers instead of PAO's. Diethers from what I understand withstand extreme heat much better without breaking down, but also tends to be hydroscopic and absorbs and retains moisture.
