Yeah I'm pretty sure the boot cover comes with the car. That's how I got mine. Mine has the boot cover and the car cover. I don't use the boot cover much though, because it's annoying to put on and take off.

But that is exactly what it is, harmonic oscillation. It happened for me at between 75 - 80 MPH. And it only happens on the passenger side elastic strap. I now twist it once and the problem is gone.

Today I discovered that mine was also the elastic strap from the top boot. I appreciate the help; when it happened today, I went straight for the strap (I was on the freeway today, so it was a little easier to reach around) and that is definitely the cause.

Perhaps the wind vibrates the strap like the reed in a musical instrument and eventually the amplitude of the vibration causes it to slap against the side of the car.

Anyway, thanks to you all I won't have to waste a ton of time looking for the culprit.

In support of the oscillation theory.....my straps vibrate too. The passenger side much more than the driver. I know it is the straps because when my Fiance' is in the car, she will hold the strap on her side and the vibrations stop. It is just wind getting under the stap which moves it back and forth. It's the same principle behind what happens when you put a piece of plastic food wrap in front of your mouth, pull it tight, and blow on it. It creates a high pitch becasue of the vibration which is cause by the air movement. Others maybe experience a seat belt rattle, but my problem is caused by the straps. Thanks for the tip about twisting the strap. That should fix the problem, I will try it tonight.
