Default Any proven power gains from Comptech CAI?

Hey guys, well after a few comments from people telling me to get rid of my "hot air intake" (comptech) the question comes to mind is this intake possibly losing me power, or gaining very, very VERY little? I know gains are hard to come by but Im just curious if anyone has done a dyno back to back with this intake to know fact that it is actually making power or just moving it around the RPM range and just making noise. TIA

The Comptech is not a hot air intake. The hole at the fender is a source for cooler air.

I haven't personally seen a comparison to an oem box, but I just saw a comparo yesterday at a local dyno day comparing the AEM v2 and the Comptech. The Comptech made exactly the same power at the top end as the v2 and the Comptech made MORE power (3-5whp) in lower mid-band rpm ranges.

i think the only real way to compare the intakes is side by side, on the same car, under the same circumstances (temp., humidity, etc. etc.) because comparing different intakes on different cars doesn't mean much.. just like baselines of one car don't match up perfectly with baselines of another car (stock vs stock).. if anything, ide say keep it. alteast it looks nice

The comptech brings in cold air from the fender area. It's like a short ram that sucks in cold air.

I missed that, I must have left already. I did before and after runs with my air intake that I made. I made 6 Hp and 6 Tq. over stock

I think the Comptech is a nicer intake than the AEM and it will not hydro lock

Yeah...Jeremy decided to put his car on since he'd just swapped his v2 for a Comptech. We pulled up his chart from a couple weeks before on the same dyno with the v2 and applied the same correction. The Comptech showed better gains down low compared to the v2.

So...same car...same dyno...different day, but same correction applied to both charts.

are the gains noticeable at all? Im just kind of looking to go back to stock. I just out of nowhere felt that the car is pretty dang good from the factory. Is the stock airbox any good? any gains with just a k&n drop in?

I just feel that I would rather be quieter and stuff if Im not gaining any noticeable hp. Draw less attention while driving wot.

and from the factory the 50/50 weight transfer (or close to it) is somewhat diminished by taking out that heavy ass intake? eh well just my .02 for now. I think I may go to stock, unless I go back to stock and feel that my car is slower....

The stock air box is very good and a K&N filter will be better for maintenance down the line. I do not think you will feel and change in the performance just less noise.

ok trying to not make a new thread and change the subject slightly instead, how do those air ducts like spoon and j's racing and what not, that adapt into the stock airbox to in terms of gains? Is there any? is there anything like this but cheaper?? I just cant see spending like 400 bucks for a carbon pipe.
