I still have my Fields VTEC controller on my Del Sol VTEC. Dyno time is a must to properly tune your engine with a VTEC controller. My VTEC engagement is set at 5300rpm (stock engagement is 5500rpm for B16A engines)and gained 4 whopping horsepower.

After two years mine is starting to give me trouble. It occasionally causes a check engine light to turn on, and I experience a lack of power and no VTEC. I simply turn the car off and on to reset the check engine light and the car works like a champ. If I leave the VTEC controller off, I never have a problem. The Sol always gets Honda service and no electronic related trouble spots have popped up.

One thing is for sure, I am not touching my S2000's VTEC engagement point. If I every decide to upgrade the CPU it will be with a Mugen replacement. They probably know what they are doing.......right?

Good luck.

I am debating what I am going to do to mod my car first. After reading this thread, I am very interested in either the V-AFC, or the Mugen ECU. Cost is not as much of an issue to me as performance. Which one is better? Does anyone have any links or mags that I should read that would give me some printed info on these products.

Also, where can I get a Toda Flywheel? Thanks!

The Mugen ecu is more expensive but is plug and play; no dyno time needed to adjust, I think.

What about performance. Does it deliver better performance numbers than the V-AFC?

Please please please - does anyone have documentary (ie. dyno pre/post) results that show these gains?

I think anyone attempting to tune this without the use of a rolling dyno is kidding themselves, that said I believe the apexi unit has plenty of merit. Just want to see a dyno graph before I shell out $$.

Also anyone have any online links of where one can be sourced at a good price?

tks
mike.
