Hey Folks

I'm new on this site and a recent (1week) S2000 Sebring Silver/ Red
:-)) . I have about 650miles on the car right now. The car was driven
very gently for the first 200-300 miles and I did not use The VTEC
until 630mi (much restraint required). Anyway, within the first
200miles I noticed a muted knocking noise. It happens when the
car is fully warmed up. It occurs when the clutch is depressed
during engagement and disengagement with slight load. If i am driving
in any gear at say 3or4k RPM a(it happens at all revs) and put
my foot on the clutch not disengaging but with a little pressure
so there is some load on the motor it is VERY noticeable and may have
gotten worse(hard to tell). ----I just went to the dealer and the tech went for a ride with me and thinks it is an exhaust resonance due to the cars' tuning
they want me to put some more miles on the car. Is this just a normal
sound for an S2000?? It seems to run fine otherwise.

Thanks,

Bremms

Hey Bremms - welcome to the forum...

It's hard for me to offer an idea as to what it might be, but if you want to do a compare and contrast, I live in Towson and we can see if my car makes similar noises... I doubt anything bad is wrong with your car, but it won't hurt to compare it to another... PM me if you're interested... and we'll connect.

Regards,
Rick

I can feel a very slight knocking in my clutch pedal when I depress the clutch pedal fully and rev the engine a little bit. If the car is in 1st and I slightly release the clutch pedal (engage) I can feel the vibration knock in the pedal. If the car is in neutral and clutch engaged (pedal up) I do not feel or hear any unusual noises.

I took it to the dealer when it was new and they could not find anything wrong with the car. They advised that it is likely exhaust resonance. It does seem to change with the weather so my bet is on the exhaust as the culprit. 11,500 miles later and it still does it and car still runs strong.

I don't feel it under normal driving conditions. I really have to try and make it happen, so it really doesn't bother me. I think that others have posted about a similar experience.

I hope this helps you.

John

I'll second Rick Lobo's generous offer. I'd be happy to listen and let you compare the sound of my car. Only I can't meet until the weekend. I live in Timonium. Email me.
