I also experienced the first hesitation today since I installed the new check valve.

Drove to a meeting in DC via Rock Creek Park - two lane, meandering road, several miles, never got above about 45mph because of traffic. Car seemed fine, but no hard acceleration because of traffic. Got into city on a boulevard and at first stop light on the green I gave 'er the gas...mucho hesitation in 3k-4k range, then picks up. Does this a couple of times before I get where I'm going. Car sits all day while at meeting. When I first started out to home, still had the hesitation, then it cleared up. No further hesitation all the way home (slow and highway driving).

It has turned cold here (30s), so maybe it is gas problem??? With others seeing hesitation, I am afraid fix is not the final solution. I was going to see how it drives tomorrow, but if I have the hesitation again, I will email Mike B.

Keith, that's what he had planned for you, like it or not!
He had two of the "new" valves he was playing with, and one had your name all over it!

We were kinda cracking up because as always seems to be the case, we were betting your car would run fine that day and he wouldn't learn much from the deal. So lets hope your car runs like shit Thursday.

RT,

Not sure what the humidity was today, but it was cold. Normally, I have a 2 mile drive to get on the highway, then highway all the way to work. Today is the first day since the new valve was installed that I have experienced any hesitation. Perhaps the low speed, continuous stop and go driving allowed moisture to reach the check valve.

I'll see what happens tomorrow when I'm back to my regular drive. If this doesn't manifest itself during my regular routine, I can hold out until a permanent fix is figured out. If I start getting the hesitation routinely again, I will definitely go for the "cheese"

That's when I experienced the hesitation. I had driven 15 miles, stop and go, and then it opened up. Dropped into 3rd from 4th or 5th...the car hesitated - so I checked my speed - 54. By the time I looked down, the car took off. That's been my only hesitation, it wasn't near as bad as before.

I can now confirm that I am having the same problem with the new check valve as I had with the old check valve. I am going to hold off on the "RT cheese fix" for now and see if I can relate it to external conditions - temp, barometric pressure, etc. It has been clear and cold the last two days which usually correlates to high barometric pressure. Let's see if the problem goes away on a rainy/heavily overcast day or if the temp goes up.

rock, I have a not so cheese fix as well, if you want, or you can wait till Shad gets a hold of Keith's car on Thursday to figure the next move.

It involves lightly creasing the diaphragm of the previous generation check valve to bias the valve open (propping it off the seat ring) instead of closed.
If you're interested I can explain in more detail.
