that. They're replacing everything w/o knowing what is out of spec/damaged. VTEC springs..wtf? Tensioner...another wtf? Get away from that dealer.

$2400? I don't think so. I had a valve job + new valve guides done by Joe for less than $400. The rest of the parts for re-assembly were about $150. Labor was free since I did it, but I really don't think $1800+ for labor is worth it, no matter who is doing the work. My offer is still up, I can save you a ton of $$$.

I would make sure that someone actually checked it out. $760 sounds like only a teardown/quick inspection fee. Most dealers know they can gouge you when it comes to stuff like this, so be really careful. I highly doubt that just about every single piece of the valve train except for the cams/rockers are busted. That's really suspicious. Replacing springs? C'mon, that's just dumb. VTEC springs? Is there even such a thing? No!

all reatainers $5.00x16= $80
all springs $7.00x16= $112.00
intake valves $16.50x8= $132.00
exhaust valves $28.5X8= $228.00
top end set $205.10x1= $205.10
vtec springs $8.60x8= $68.96
head work = $350.00
keepers =$80.00
tensiorur $126.36x1= $126.36

For all parts needed= $1382.32
Tax for parts ~ $110.00
Labor ~ $960.00
He said the car can be done in 2 or 3 days. How do these prices sound? Should i go ahead and pay or send my head to Alaniz or somewhere else?
I paid 90.32 for intake and 150 for exhaust valves, 39.07 for a head gasket from hardtopguy.com

It seems like they want you to pay for everything that could have possibly went wrong. Which is totally
