Well thats not to say that the original owner had to replace the front tires! Crap happens! I bought our 06 SI Civic with 3 miles on it, not even with 300 miles I had to get a new tire becuase of a nail! Just do the Carfax and buy it!

Dude, seriously. Either you buy the car, or you don't. You've now received 50 responses, most of which say that the car probably hasn't been rolled back, and if it has, all the rest of us are stumped on how to do it.

If you wanna feel better, buy the car, loan it to me, and I'll put 12k miles on it in a couple weeks. Then you can rest assured that you have a '00 with "adequate" mileage that will let you sleep at night.

It's an S2000, not a UHaul truck.

I'm sorry if you are bothered by the thread, but would you just drop 20k on a car without doing some research first? Its pretty common nowadays for ppl to make a buck by tampering with the odometer.

Thats what these forums are for and I appreciate every single response. If you don't like what your seeing, don't read it

Supposedly they were able to roll the odometer back somehow using a super secret technique, but don't ask me what that was!
I wouldn't want you to tell me on a public forum anyway, and at this time I don't have a need to know. If I ever do need to figure it out I know how to get in touch with XViper.

I'm just curious to know exactly where the data is stored.

I'm totally amazed at some of the tire mileages being reported here. You guys make me feel as if I must be driving like some kind of madman. My back tires are gone in under 5000 miles since the SC was added, but even when I was stock they were ready for replacement every 5k. Every second set of rears I replace the fronts, because they're pretty well used up by that point. LOL, if I got 28k to a set of tires they'd dry rot before wearing out.

I use to go through back tires on my RZ-350 every 3,000 miles. Like clockwork.

The tire story the OP is getting is a little confusing, but the original owner may well have had to replace all four tires at around 10,000 miles. I'd be far more concerned about the lack of maintainence records and receipts than I would be about the low mileage.

It actually sounds like a good buy to me, but I still can't get past the fact that the guy didn't keep records and receipts for the maintainence he did on the car.

I bought my year 2000 S2K a year ago and it had 7995 miles. People don't drive these cars. I will pay for your car if you find out the odo was rolled back. You can come to my home and get a signed & notarized contract tomorrow.
