Default Buying a used motor off Craigslist

I am looking to buy a used F22c to swap into my AP1. I have looked everywhere and found only a few engines online. I came to one for sale on Craigslist with about 45k miles on the motor, pulled out from a wrecked 2005 AP2, but I have no access to look or hear the engine running myself since it's not local. The seller is willing to provide me with the compression, leakdown numbers, and the VIN# to check the actual mileage.

I also found another one for sale on eBay with similar price but higher mileage (75k). Compression, leakdown, and VIN# are going to be provided as well. I know it might sound pretty sketchy, but what do you guys think about these?

I personally have never bought an engine before, so please acknowledge me what to look for and what to expect in a used engine.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Buy at your own risk. Best to buy local if there is a problem but most used parts are sold as-is.

thats a gamble maybe the guy could be honest about everything but at the same time you never know if they hustled him might have lot more mileage or knocking or something, you just never know but it can also turn out to be a good engine. goodluck

risky business man. I would go to any a reputable collision repair shop in your area and ask them if they can source a motor for you.

Have you tried Hmotors online? Might be a little more but they are a reputable engine seller.

I did. I've heard a lot of good things from that site. Only found a f20c on there though.

This may be just me, but brand new shortblocks are actually not priced badly. Esp when you price in risk on used.
