Default car lift

Hey all,

I wasn't sure where to post this question. What lifts do you guys use to perform maintenance on your cars? I know it depends on what type of maintenance but for things like fluid maintenance. Is there anything you guys recommend that gives you a good lift height to perform those tasks? Was looking through amazon and wanting all the things. Also looking at future work. I know it's a broad question just curious when getting started with DYI what you looked into and what works. Thanks.

Thx Spider, I guess I should've noted that this will be in my backyard. I have space to use but I don't have much storage space when I'm not using the lifts. I was looking at
portable lifts portable lifts
and these
portable lifts portable lifts
. I feel like the first ones would be ok to be able to change fluids but I know in the future I'll want to replace the clutch. Also was thinking about suspension in which the second option would be better.

I've used jack stands for years but i work off a 2 post lift more recently and that's the way to go if you've got space for it.

My EZcarlift gets used for engine, gearbox, and differential oil changes. No hydraulics. No installation. Slow. Very stable.

This is how mine sat for it's winter nap. Quick Jacks are surprisingly good and when Costco had them a fairly decent price.

Quick Jacks are worth it, especially if you're lowered a bit in my opinon. It's way easier on my back now that I don't need to jack up each side to get to the middle jack point

I go low budget, easy and safe.

I have 2x4s that have an angle cut on edge so I can drive up on them. Why? I can get my jack under the front lip and elevate the entire front end at the middle jack point. I use the jack to lift the entire back end using the diff as the jack point. If I need to use jack stands, those are still the two points I use to place all four, two at a time. I leave the jack in place as a backup and MAKE SURE the car is stable on them. I also tell someone I am under the car for emergency cases.

Be aware people have misidentified the front side jack points and have damaged the fender as a result. Make sure you are sure.
