Default car start

[FONT=Courier] So i just bought a 03' s2000 and it runs perfect, only 35,XXX miles. i only have one question that i searched and couldnt come up with anything. it is hard to describle but ill try. when my car is warm, a.k.a. at idle, if i turn the car off and run into 7/11 or something for a drink or something for 5-10 mins then i come back and turn my car on, it turns on fine, then the rpm's drop to like 300-500 and it feels like the car almost wants to cut off but it doesnt it just goes back to idle (800-100rpm), and when i give it a little gas just to make sure everything is okay, the rpm's drop real low again then go back to idle, i was just seeing if this was normal or okay, thanks in advance

Idle air control valve regulates the RPMs at idle depending on the temperature.
When the car is started cold, the RPMs idle high to help the car warm up, when hot it is not nessesary, hence lower idle RPM at hot starts.

The fact that the car wants to cut off can point to the dirty air passages for the idle air control...

It can also be totally normal "ECU learning stuff." It seems to happen to everyone at one time or another. The best advice I heard was NOT to use the throttle to maintain idle when it dips. That just delays the ECU from learning the proper settings.

yeah, that does make sense. would my ECU still be "learning" the proper settings even though it's a 03?

If I'm just sitting in neutral and rev it a bit it'll dip below 1k rpm's and stutter a bit.

k thats basically what mine does, dips to really low rpm's and the car shakes a little, then its normal.

Patient: "Doc, it hurts when I do this!"
Doc: "Well, STOP DOING THAT!"

this could potentialy be a much much deeper problem..........

how often did your parents hug you as a child. lol

they all do it oncee in a while, if you're worried have a tech do some diagnostics, otherwise just let her learn, some girls are slow learners, but don't worry she'll figure it out
