When I did mine, the CF was 1/2 pound heavier without the hood pad. I have the J's style.

 

see of course if you buy a style hood its going to weigh more. your talking about a fiberglass frame wrapped in cf. if you get an authentic then you will save a decent about of weight. but unless your buying the hood for a true weight drop i wouldn't recomend buying an authentic. or if your obsessed with having the name on the car. I am

 

Any body know how heavy the veilside hood is?

stock hood is about 12 pnds, cf usually 7-8 pnds depending on style and manufacturer, could be heavier.
