chipped windshield today
at least its just a chip...
On Monday, I was driving home on the freeway, and the car in front and to the left of me ran over a foot long piece of metal piping. It shot up in the air and smashed though my windshield right in front of my face. Fortunately it hit at an angle, so, although it broke through the glass and the film, it didn't enter the car (or my head). It completely shattered the left side of the winshield though.
I didn't bother with the insurance as I have a $250 deductible and a new windshiled was only $350. (plus $50 for a new pair of pants)

same crap happen to me past weekend. i just have to say...i hate fracking trucks.
way anyway...i had it repaired..i called my insurance and they had this company come over to my house and fix it. it was free.
i still see the chip but the air bubble was gone. i dont know if it will bother me or not.
i can replace and have it installed for $250. dealer is almost $500 not installed.

I had my windshield repaired and it was covered by the insurance company. All they really did was seal it though. You can still see the chip clearly.
There's a new method that I read about, I don't know much about it but the person who had it done said it removed the chip all together and the glass looked clear afterwards.
The guy called it a chemical repair ... You can read his description here:

Maybe someone else knows more about it and can elaborate on it. Sounds like its much better than what they did to my windshield.
