Civic to S2K
Good stuff guys, thanks for all the posts! - Looking at recent "office" word of mouth insurance in the uk has gon up 40% for drivers under 25 (apparently) and im paying £800 for an EM1 so going by that im gonna have to wait till i win the lotto or insurance take their heads from up their arse (which i cant see happening full stop)
No comparison whatsoever. Winter tires for snow will be fine.
I settled for a Miata - would never settle for a civic
(owned a 90 and drove a 93, 96, 97, etc etc - who doesn't have a civic, lol)
The Miata is your bare bones, cheap to maintain/insure/mod alternative to the s2k. The civic - nowhere close

I went from a '91 crx vtec (b16) to the s2k.
The S feels totally different when your driving it compared to civics/crx's.
It really feels like a sports car/race car, because of the small space your in and being surrounded by the whole cockpit and all. That's one huge difference in drivers feeling.
Also the shifting through gears and steering feels much more hardcore or mechanical like said before.
Last but not least, the difference in speed and acceleration compared to a civic is quite big aswel. crx vs s2k 0-60 acceleration is maybe a second difference and might not seem much, but it really feels much much faster than that. Also it seems your speeding much more easily

there's not much more left to be said... S2k is a great car, especially when compared to a Civic.
but, I do miss my track toy CRX immensely. Although the S2K feels better and is more capable around the track, my CRX had an underdog appeal to it and was cheaper to track.

RIP

I have had multiple Hondas.
I had a '97 Integra GSR that was a wonderful car. I have had 3 EF's 2 Civics and a CRX. I have had an Accord, I have had a TSX.
All very nice cars, but the S2000 is just a completely different beast.

I've owned 3 gens of civic, EF EG FG... and I would not give the S up for any civic!
The Civic and S2000 were built for different purposes. The civic is built as a crowd pleasing economy car, that happens to perform well with aftermarket work. The S2000 was designed purely to perform well.
The feel is entirely different. Simply go out and test drive an S2000 and you will understand.
I was originally planning on selling my civic for an AP2. At the last minute I decided to keep the civic and buy an AP1.
I built the civic myself, and the car is amazing on the track (as that is what it's built for) But in terms of pure fun to drive on the street, looks, etc. It truly isn't a comparison.
Also, you mentioned the S2000 has 220 HP, but it is rated at 240 HP. (that is also a lot more fun than a civic, especially at 9000 RPM)

One of my main concerns is that i always imagine RWD will try to kill you every time you go round a corner lol
Countless people have driven RWD cars for ages without getting killed. Don't assume that RWD = death unless you're not willing to learn how to drive it and insist on exceeding the limits for the given conditions.
