Default Cluth pedal rubbing feeling

Whenever I let my clutch out I get this rubbing noise and feeling, it's kinda hard to explain but it feels like some abnormal resistance that wasn't there before. I can definitely feel it if I've been sitting in traffic for a while and using the clutch a lot. The rubbing only occurs at the catch point, everywhere else is fine. Anyone know what this could be?

Yes, I have this too. Have always had it. Not too concerned about it. I think it might be either the shape of the master plunger seal. When it gets back to a specific point, it hits some kind of ridge and that's what you feel. I suppose, in time, it "could" score the seal and begin to leak. I've heard that some owners have had the master cylinder replace under warranty when this had happened. Those must have been the "worst case" ones. I'm hoping mine won't be a problem for a good long time. If it happens, I don't think the master cylinder is all that expensive to replace.
Another thing it could be is the design of the clutch pedal pivot area. It could be sliding up against one of the two switches there. One is for the starter interlock and the other is for the cruise control disengage. If you're curious enough, crawl under there and push on the clutch and watch if it engages something at the point you feel the resistence.

I think this is the clutch squeek some have talked about. I have it as well, a slight squeek and a bit of a rough feel as the clutch engages. The 2000 does not have this at all, and it only developed on the 2001 around 9000 miles. Some have suggested lithium grease on the spring that returns the clutch or the pivot point up on the fire wall. I still haven't gone searching for it cause it's not that big a deal.

Colin,
Mine's a 2000 too and I have it also. It's really annoying. I took it to the dealer once and the greased up the clutch fork and other stuff. It went away for about 6 months and now it's back again. How annoying...
