Comptech Sc Upgrade
I appreciate the fact that a couple s/c owners have had the courage to say "If I had it to do over again..." On the other hand we have heard others say they are pleased with the conversion. I think anytime someone contemplates making a major modification such as this some caution flags should go off. And I find this both an interesting and educational thread.
Bieg, while I side with you on the merits of the car itself, keeping it stock, and learning to master what you have, I find your "chip on your shoulder" attitude tiring. This mod vs. no mod thing is simply a personal choice and we all need to accept that. For every person you find that says they regret making a modification, I can find someone else who regrets buying the car at all. So what does that prove -- only that we are all unique and we need to be more tolerant of others who share a different point of view. Sorry for the soapbox.

Hey Bieg,
Good to see you back!! Although I don't agree with everthing that everyone says they have a right to say it. I think that there are alot of pros to what's been already stated. We can argue points as long as they are maintained in a courteous fashion, with care and understanding. All to many time I think we choose to let the arguement dictate our emotions. Doesn't matter! If Bieg thinks that the car is just fine the way it is and can justifably argue the point in an acceptable manner it's alright with me. Valid points are given on all sides. But hey, I have the right to make a choice so all we need to do is allow others to make that same choice without ridicule. Correct?! Would I like to mod my car? Sure, as long as it retains it original reliability. This is more of an enhancement. Do I want to mod the car with something that causes more trouble than good, Hell no! At some of the prices that have been put on parts for the S 2000, it leads me to keeping it stock. So there are good and bad points. But you have to listen to them all to gain a little wisdom!!
Cheers
Jeff

From my various conversations with Comptech over the past few months, it appears that they want to do an intercooler/boost upgrade, but they are only working on it from time to time. They did some initial tests on the NSX SC and they didn't return the results expected, so they sorta put it on the back burner. They put it off when they started working on the RSX stuff, they'll probably continue to put it off as long as they have other things to do. That's business.
I have 13,000 miles on the SC with 45,000 miles on the car. I'm 100% happy with the SC, and I plan on continuing to mod the car. Intercooler and boost upgade will be done in time. I'm just not sure I want to be the first person to do it. Until then, there are plenty of other things to do. It will never be "fast enough".
I agree with Bieg's statement about people modding up the S2000 before they even know how to drive it. Find what you don't like, and improve on it. Don't just do what others are doing. Put some miles on the car, get to know it, then improve upon it. If the car seems to totally haul butt to you, then don't go with FI...but don't claim that stock is it's best form, either. Everyone is different, and wants different things out of the car. There is no perfect set of mods, or lack of mods, for the car. It's all perception.
