Yep. I don't plan on selling my S2000 anytime soon. If I were, I wouldn't be doing all of this to it. Possibly a lot of people only plan on keeping it for 2-3 years, that would be a good poll..."How long do you anticipate owning your S?"
Justin, rumor has it that Comptech tried several variations of exactly what you're talking about and didn't like the results. Don't know any details or what they didn't like, maybe they were going for the peak number or something (but I doubt it).
Harry, RT has a very good point... you need to make sure your fuel line in the engine compartment isnt resting against any thing... The stainless steel braiding will eat through alot of things just like a file. The noise on my car though is distinctly coming from and loudest at the rear drivers side wheel well.
I was at a dealership waiting room yesterday and came upon the Motor Trend August '01 issue which reported on this s/c. I've always considered MT at the low end of the food chain as far as auto mag's go; but, anyways they didn't think much of the Comptech in their test.
I would venture a guess (my opinion) that there are many more Comptech SC owners who have had problems at one time or another, then there are owners who have had absolutely no problems after their installation.
Even some of those who have posted on this thread saying they love/like their Comptech SC's, have said except for this or that, I have had no problems and love my SC.
I am sorry, but $5K for a "bolt-on" kit, implies that it has been designed, engineered and tested to run with no problems. In my opinion, Comptech put this kit on the market before it was ready. While it may be acceptable to have a few beta testers buy the kit (at a substantial discount) to work out the bugs, it is totally unacceptable to still have bugs after selling over 100 kits.
I also agree that mods are a very personal decision.
So, will I try another boost kit? Probably, but not without a 100% Satisfaction, Money Back Guarantee. We need someone who has the business ethics of Rick's Accessories to sell a boost kit. Someone who loves the S2000, but also makes sure you are satisfied with any purchase. If you are not satisfied with anything Rick's sells you, get a full refund, no questions asked.

Rogman I agree with most of your post but machines are made by human beings and are therefore not perfect. Yes, Comptech has had a few problems with the supercharger kits but most if not all have been remedied.
Now look at the problems that Honda has had with this car:
Multiple #4 cylinder failures
Defective/Recalled/TSB on the clutch
Recall on seatbelts
Recall on top boot
Spark plugs falling out and destroying engines
1-2 grind
Auto function on driver's window failing
Porous blocks
These are just the ones that I can remember off of the top of my head. Using your logic, $32,000 is an awful lot to spend on a "new" car that has this many potential problems and Honda has made a few more than a hundred of them.
I don't mean this as a flame but the problems Comptech has had with this kit have been, in my opinion, quite minor and to the best of my knowledge, none of them have caused any damage to any engine. While Honda's problems listed above certainly have. In many cases Honda has been quite reluctant to repair them as well. Again, to the best of my knowledge, Comptech has been working very hard to remedy any problems associated with this kit.
