If Honda has made such an announcement, please post a link or provide some info so we all can see this for our selves. Our did Honda tell all several thousand dealers to "keep it a secret". If dealers have received written info you can bet there would be some kind of press release or public info. Dealers are the last to know because they can not be trusted to keep any secrets. The S2000 is a minimalist Roadster and I am ready to eat crow if they redesign the top and roof well just to put in a glass window.

I am most decidedly not anti-Honda (I loved my 1996 Civic Ex, loved my CBR600F3 sport bike, and bought my fiance a 2001 CRV EX). Honda builds some incredible cars and bikes. They kick butt on the race track and on the street, and I am sorry that Joe average in his Camaro SS doesn't know this.

Having said this, I for one wish Honda had sold the car via the Acura channel. They could have celebrated the 50th anniversary of the marque (didn't the original NSX celebrate the 40th?). At the same time, we would have gotten a much better warranty on the car (3/36 vs 5/60) along with a much better network of dealers (apologies to Barry WY) to both sell the product and service the cars.

The sad fact is that most Honda dealers stink. The sales people don't know anything about the cars they are selling and I was scared letting some of the technicians work on my Civic let alone on my S2K. Hell, Family Honda in RSM (the dealer that some of you may remember I touted so highly when I bought my car a few months back) has since lost (fired???) the sales manager that gave me the great support and deal on my car. Apparently, the dealership would rather do things the old way and try and screw the customer with "dealer markups" and other crap that they tack on when you get to see the finance guy. A shame if you ask me, because they have a good service dept. (if anyone is interested ask for Bob or Israel) but the sales guys are going the wrong way. Hard sales, and bs tactics is not the way to sell to someone interested in a $33,000 sports car.

In summary, I could care less for the branding, imaging and other crap (I'll leave that to the legions of posers out here in S. Cal. who buy their 3 series BMW's with automotics). I would like the pleasant experience at the dealership, professional service atmosphere, and longer warranty.

Just my 2cents.

Dont forget, production could Cease next year like most of us were told when purchasing the car. Maybe I am wrong, but if a majority of owners purcased cars thinking that they would be limited to a 2 year stretch, wouldnt it be wrong for the car to be produced after the 2 years? Someones being fooled here, and Honda is a company of high standards

I don't think that verbal promise is worth the paper it's written on.

I hope Honda stops production next year but we all know that the bottom line is the key here and if Honda can make more money off a 2002 model then there will be one.

There WILL be a MY2002. The sales rep I bought the car from said he saw the order for them already. The reason I bought my stook last month from him was because I couldn't be sure there would be another year or production. I don't know why he would tell me this if he didn't believe it to be true.

In Japan, S2000 were sold early 1999; and later that summer were sold to UK. Were they consider 1999 models?
If they were. Then, it is already over 2 years of production! I really doubt that they will stop this soon? look at the NSX, they are limited (they still are), but still in production.
