I think 1) and 2) have been handled by everyone.

3) Hofco with a proximity sensor. Cost me around $600. Whatever alarm you get, make sure you get a good installer.

4) I'd like a more reliable tranny and stronger drivetrain.

1 and 2 have been pretty well covered.

I don't have an alarm on my car. I personally believe that they're a waste of time and $ as nobody in S. CA even pays attention to an alarm going off and more importantly most even avg. car thieves can and will disable a car alarm very quickly if they really want the car. I'm anal about where I park. I don't go to bad neighborhoods. And I have a shit load of insurance. It's only a car and I don't let it worry me more than that.

As far as issues or reconsiderations. Not really any. I've bought two of these little bugger in less than two years so I must like them. I personally feel that the S2K is the best performance buy for the buck out there. Yes, the Boxster S is a nicer car and yes the M3 is faster yada yada. However, throw value into the mix and it's a no brainer.

If I had to pick an issue it would be the headach in finding a decent Honda dealership to work in the car. I know that I'm in the minority here, but I really wish the S was sold as an Acura and not a Honda.

MarkS2K and Da Hapa,

You are so right! My Honda Service Manager who used to be an Acura Service Manager actually admitted that Acura will bend over backwards for their customers and Honda will not!

Funny how the rest of the world drives Hondas but because we are SOOOO lucky in America to have two brands (the upscale Acura and the economy class Honda) we are blessed with a double standard.

I'm starting to get mad just thinking of my recent experiences with Honda AARGH!

Yes, you turn the key off and the engine stops just like all other cars with no start button. The new BMW 7 series has a start/stop button but not the S2K.

I don't wash my top every time I wash the car. I only rinse it off and actually wash it with car wash soap about once a month then reapply UV protectant to it. If you wash it everytime, you will take the UV protectant off and have to reapply it. In cases where birds have bombed it however, it gets washed good.

It doesn't hurt washing it everytime, just a waste IMO.
