Default Decision Help... Hardtop vs New Glass Window

My car was broken into and stripped not to long ago. Long story short after everything was said and done I came out ahead. Insurance paid me $8500 for the seats, top, stereo etc.

I am going to sell my s2000 and have replaced everything but the softop so far. Mainly out of being lazy but this came across my mind. Which would add more value? A new top installed by me is $595 for the glass window. A hardtop from some of our memebers is around 2k. Right now the current top has a huge cut in it and is ducktaped up.

Im thinking going hardtop since its essentially only 1400 extra and I personally like the hardtop better, but since im selling im not sure which way to go.

Options are buy a hardtop and leave the soft top cut or buy a new soft top and forget the hardtop

Your resale value will be garbage if you buy a hard top and leave a cut up soft top under it. Buy a new soft top and put a for sale sign on it if you want to sell it.

Many more people want an S2000 for its convertible abilities, so a new soft top would be a huge selling point - you could probably charge a premium for it too.

I agree. Replacing soft top will help with your sale more.
Now, if you add a HT after that...

i agree. a messed up softtop isnt gonna raise the value. just replace it maybe even with a plastic window and sell it. isn't your title/ carfax also blemished because of the theft?
