Definitive S2000 CR Thread
Well, here's the badge. I thought people might want to express their thoughts about the CR. I'm not so upset anymore. I'm just really disapointed. Worse part is I had no expectations of this car to begin with. I made no predictions nor hoped for anything. Yet it let me down. To be honest I thought I would get flamed for posting my disaproval. I truely feel we got about 25% or less of what they could have done. If I find out that those new wheels weigh the same or more than the ap2s so help me. That will be proof enough for everyone to realize that they made no real attempt to make this a track car.
Maybe I missed something in these posts.
And looking at some of the PS's of the car in other colors, which look better then the smurf blue, I thought they announced 3 colors for the CR?
Do we know what other colors might be offered?

I think the car actually looks good, and I think that it's very easy to underestimate the performance of this car on a track, the same way that someone might look at a DC5 Type R and say "How is this really worth that much more money over a Type S?" They said that they dropped 2 seconds off their lap time ... no matter where they are that is a very significant gain, and it's just a starting point. This car is obviously faster on a track than a stock AP1 or AP2, and has basically the best of both worlds (power of an AP2, chassis and suspension from AP2 - actually improved over AP2, and the steering response and feel of an AP1).
Imagine if you had just bought a 2007 AP2 and took it out to the track bone stock. Next to you there is a bone stock 2007 AP2 CR, and over the course of five laps it beats you by 10 seconds. Would you consider paying another $5 for that? If no, then you're not a hardcore racer, but there are a lot of hardcore racers that run S2000s that would love to have a CR as a starting point over a stock S2000.
I think it'll be the same thing as when the Mugen or Spoon S2000 came out and people hated it at first, but after they saw what those cars were doing on the track they started grabbing up the parts ASAP.
Oh, and I ... gasp ... even like the aero work!
I figured Honda would build a white Type R or at least Type S version of the S2000.
I like the "Club Sport" idea, but the colors don't match up (yellow and blue?) and the car looks like corporate suites are trying to appeal to the "rice" crowd.
Honda should have looked to BMW and Porsche when it comes to making a limited enthusiast version of a car. Hell, Honda did a great job with the Integra Type R.
What happened to Honda?
