Definitive S2000 CR Thread
Yeah, in case people forgot, the ITR added a LSD & 10+% more power in addition to stiffening the chassis.
"You, sir, are NO Type R!"
I don't see why anyone cares that the CR shaved 2 seconds off lap times, given the change in tires. Put those tires and the same driver in a base AP2 and how close would it be?

Final Word: (From me at least)
It seems many folks are now sticking up for the CR and Honda for it's design. The point is, the car is downright ugly. Great, it's two seconds faster around a track, does that validate the car looking the way it does? No! Their are plenty of cars that are fast around the track without sacrificing the design or style aspect. Honda showed an ugly car- period. Just because some owners were doing that to their cars already doesn't mean that it's okay or acceptable because now it is factory. The CR is an embarrassment. I dont care if you were two seconds faster than me around the track. If you were driving that, I'd be laughing my a$$ off and try to look up your skirt as you exited the car.
Honda has done better, Honda could do better, Honda should do better. The wing, spoiler, and seats are completely distasteful. Hell the Recaro-esque seats in the Civic Si hatchback that were alcantara would have been markedly better than these and stylish. Fake carbon fiber, come on! Subaru wheels?
End of rant.

Where did people get that these were forged wheels? I'm just wondering where the information came from (source, please)...
Also, if this car is only $5K above the base s2k cost, then this isn't a huge deal because the hardtop is over 3K new. That's only a couple thousand markup for the weight reduction, body parts, interior change, and other features.
Then again, there is no real set price point, so these numbers are all just speculation

Take into account how much money they saved by not adding ac, softtop, and radio. Thats a few grand worth of stuff your not getting so take that into account on the price when your buying the car. So those mods are costing a little more than you might think.
Good point! I want to see some sourses for the forged wheels.

nothing about being forged but some good pics at least

miata made some of these stripped down club racers and they all sold well. i cannot see myself wanting one of these and can only see a limited appeal as anyone can just buy an older S and stip it out to match performance. i guess there is a niche for anything in this automotive world.
i was expecting something better in terms of performance, an engine/hp upgrade, interior improvement, etc...so this is a dissapointment to me.
perhaps the 2008 car will be better or 2009, ????
