Don't feel the S2000 is that fast

Yes, there are lots of cars out there that are faster, but the S is no slouch. I just did an autox on a kart track last weekend, my essentially stock S2000 on track tires was only 0.916 a second slower than a Porsche GT3 that was there. The GT3 was admittedly on those amazing Porsche street tires, but a professional road racer drove it.
I also believe the S some how seems to mask how fast it actually is. I know when I drive some other cars I get the sensation I am going faster than I am, and yet in the S it is the other way, I look down at the speedo and then stand on the brakes because I'm surprised I'm actually going that fast.
Good luck with your ownership, I hope in the end you are happy with your S.

You didn't really expect to post this and not invoke controversy did you
(I am glad to see we have all managed to keep it relatively light-hearted) we aren't really ripping on you as much as offering up our disagreement

Now that we are the subject of how truly slow the S is here is what got me. I was going to buy a 2003 Cobra Mustang. For the price you can't go wrong. A used one in Feb of 04 was $27k. Just about the price of my S. I decided not to. The S is an al around better performer in combination. Great handling, great brakes, good stiff structure, 50/50 weight, and a so so motor as far as speed goes. So I went with the S. It's shortcomings is the speed and that is why I think most of the community has gone FI or wishes they could. I will when the time is right. Ya to the S in my book for haveing a combination of qualities greater than any of the current $30k cars on the market. The other cars just aren't as much fun to drive.

totally agree, my daily driver is a v6 accord. The S2000 does feel like a rocket ship
Now if I had a Ferrari 360CS or a 911 GT3RS then the S2000 would feel like a Civic in comparison
