and it’s shifting was PERFECT!

I mean, this was a fully custom build. Motor by Rothsport, about 325 whp. Pure sex. Trans completely re-geared... first gear was short, but got you up, second was good, and third was a peach! So much torque, you could just leave it in third and rip corners, dropping to second to dig yourself out of em.

Of course, the wide bodied stance created a sense of occasion unrivaled in the modded car world. The view out the wing mirrors was mega! And, the grip! Just stays absolutely glued to the ground.

But it was the shifting that I really reveled in. The actuation from gear to gear was so immediate and direct. I mean, no slop! I thought I knew what a positive feeling shifter felt like because, S2000. Not ****ing close. He was running an FP Motorsport “Golden Rod” shift rod with the Rothsport billet short shifter. This combo was P U R E G O L D !

Do I have to buy a 911 to get such crisp shifts? Or, is there a way to tighten mine up? Cause, it’s ALL I can think about now.

 

GT3 is my next car but not in a manual. RWB is not my thing. Prefer the original lines

 

This was in Portland?? Is there a local owner around here? Would be cool to see one of these driving around To answer your Q tho, I assume if someone made all of the shifter plastic bits in billet that would be pretty sweet. Not sure if they do tho.

 

There’s, at least, 3 in Portland. A few in Seattle.

I’m on the hunt for something more positive. Hard to improve on the S2000 gear selector, but I’m convinced now that you can.

 

Grease your shifter, replace the spring and plastic bits, use a brass shift collar (Amis, Renegade, etc).

 

Could look into the Renegade short shifter. A lot of positive reviews, but tbh I didn't like it. I think the shifts are too short, not just Renegade, but every short shifter I have tried I didn't like. I think the throw in the S is perfect as a street car. As for a more crisp feeling, if you currently have a weighted knob, it numbs some of the feeling, so if you try a lightweight knob it may feel crisper.
