Default EPS Power Steering Failure

Today, after filling with gas when I started out of the station the steering felt very heavy. I thought I might have gotten a flat on a front tire so i got out and checked. No flat.

So I got back in and started forward, Still heavy. Then I noticed the "EPS" light on the dash on. On a whim I turned off the ignition and restarted. The light went off and steering was fine.

Has anyone else experienced this? Should I take it in to the dealer?

If it happens again, I'd consider a stop at the shop. I wouldn't be worried about one instance though.

It happens if you drive off too quickly. It takes a little time before it starts to work, but if you drive off, it stays off until you restart the car.

So, would that be an option for the people that don't like the power-steering?, just get in and go quickly(assuming the car was already warm). I wonder if there would be any adverse effects from driving with the power-steering off for extended periods?
