first long drive (aka lessons to learn)
Did 101 from LA up north after buying my car in El Centro. Those guys in LA in sport-utes have gotta be on crack, they have no depth perception. They think the back of an S2K looks at least 50 yards further away than it is. Good idea on the earplugs, but I was so stoked I hardly noticed how noisy it is. And as I had mentioned in some other long-forgotten post about some other guy from N.Cal getting his car in LA why would anyone choose to take 5 for any reason?? 101 is not that much slower and at least there is something to look at (except up around San Ardo).
Drove from LA to SF in the storm two months ago. To my surprise the car was very comfortable and stable under such conditions (even in excess of 100 mph on a straight stretch)
Coincidentally, I also saw a Honda carrier heading North with a yellow at the back... maybe Andersen Honda bought one from elsewhere to sell it in the bay area... who knows

one of the reasons to take 5 (at least from Los Banos to LA) in response to an earlier question (and to respond to Josh's question) is decreased time.
on 101 i've done the drive in around 6 1/2 hours. on the 5 i've done it in 5 hours.
that's a big difference.
