I've had an AP1 for almost 13 years now, and it is my first rwd car. I started our experimenting with power-on oversteer in a wet parking lot. It's a good learning environment, figure out how to correct, and learning how the car will react as it regains traction. On the stock suspension, it grabs roughly, and the body rolls/snaps back and forth. I could see how people end up spinning the other direction if they fail to unwind the steering angle fast enough. Never happened to me. I eventually switched to pss9s, and it feels much better regaining traction now.

My best sideways action was at the first HPDE I did in the s2000. I got a really good run onto one of the short straits (between turns 5 and 6) at Homestead, and received a point by from a slower car. A 911 was behind me, and he also got the point by. Well, between finishing the pass, getting back in line, and watching the 911 in my mirrors, I missed my normal braking point, and I was carrying more speed than normal. I nailed the brakes hard, and when I reached the turn in point, I went for it while easing off the brakes. It didn't stick, but it didn't spin either. Just a nice controlled slide. I don't know if it was the excellent track surface, the warm Super Sports, or what. It was easy to catch, and felt very controllable. I carried it sideways well past the apex before it started to come back together. Eased up the countersteer, tail started rotating again. A little more countersteer, a little more speed scrubbed off, and slowly everything slowly came back together. Powered out and into the next turn. My instructor, who was silent the whole time, waited a few more turns before saying "So, do you know what you did wrong back there?"

Wish I had the whole thing on video, but my camera was mounted in the Porsche, which I had parked after the turbo manifold cracked during the previous session.

I find myself drifting quite a lot especially when it's raining, it's just too fun not to. I don't do anything too extreme and the S does require a little more precision than say a 240sx.
