Sound like the hardtop to me. If they were going to offer a glass rear window, why would they make it an option and not standard? That pretty much goes against the Honda way of offering different trim levels and few factory installed options.

Sorry, but that excerpt makes me think even more that there isn't going to be a factory glass window option next model year.

That also doesn't commit to their being a MY2002. Just states that there is an additional option. I think we still have to wait and see. And I agree with everyone else, sounds like the hard top. Sorry, Rick.

O.K., Rick, I'll change the subject. How is the work on a replacement window progressing? By the way, I followed what looked to be a fairly new Mercedes 600SL (I think) convertible with a plastic rear window. I can't imagine paying six figures for a car and getting plastic instead of glass. Keep up the good work.

What ever happened to the supposed 'exclusivity' of Honda only selling 5000 S2000's in the year 2000?

Angry!

They didn't say they would sell only 5000 cars in the year 2000. It's the 2000 model they were talking about. Remember that in that 6,796 number they are also counting the 2001 models sold in the calendar year 2000. So I think the 5000 units for the first year still counts (2000 model cars). Hope that helps you cool off

Could it be . . . media hype?

I'm trying to get the "News You Can Use" thing, whatever that is. Hopefully, it will clear up the ambiguity. I guess with these things it's always "who knows?"

Data from Tochigi

...oh and when I asked about the glass rear window? He said "you mean the hard top"? He indicated the material is very thin on the roof and doubts an option unless they do something with the hole roof, which he has heard nothing of.

although the quote does point towards a hardtop and not a glass rear window, I think we all sound like we're in denial.

It's kind of like how they offered VTEC engines in the prelude and del sol, one or two years into the model year.
