Helms doesn't mention anything about temp for this adjustment.

The expansion of the cable, due to heat, is negligible.

Adjust deflection to "(4 - 6 mm, 3/16 - 1/4 in)"

It is on the side of the throttle body (where the AEM CAI attaches in your picture).

For what it's worth, when I had my PRM intake off last week I manually opened the butterfly valve all the way (by twisting the cable attachment part on the side of the throttle body.) Twisted all the way, it's almost entirely in line with the air flow.

I didn't think to check how far it opens when the gas pedal is fully depressed, though. Next time...

Why is such a simple maint. item such a big deal? You guys need to spend more time babying the S during oil changed and such, leave no stone unturned!

You need more than 0 slack. Exactly how much more than 0 is up to you. I went with about 1/4".

Can someone please clarify two points for me:

1. Deflection: this term has been used repeatedly, and same with "up/down" motion of the cable. With the cable running horizontal to the ground, are people meaning left to right? How/what is deflection used in this context?

2. How exactly do you measure the play in this cable, granted I figured out how it's deflecting, lol (I went out and checked and found slack in mine using my fingers), but from which areas do you start measuring using a ruler?

I'm trying not to be mildly retarded...

Thanks!
