the slack is measured up and down in the service manual--it IS really "back and forth" but hard to actually measure it that way

this is not true...

in the service manual, it does not specify how to measure free play, back n forth or up n down, it does not say.

but logically, it should be back and forth. up n down has no relevance in throttle cable movement.

and actually, it is EASIER to measure back and forth...you place a ruler side by side...and grasp the cable with your finger nail tip...and pull back and forth and see how far your finger nail tip travels.

you can lift the throttle cable up and get an idea how much slack is in the cable, so accually up and down movement is relevent

yea sure...but i'm speaking about a specifically specified measurement amount...the actual measurement should be taken in back and forth motion...the same motion of the travelling path of the cable.

my 00 had an inch of slack in the cable. Also the MAP got a whack. Like a new car for free. No more low rpm bog and no more vtec hesitation. Woot!
