Since when did being a guest matter? At least I can say he is a true enthusiast, which it is apparent you simply are not, not to mention he could spew info for days about our cars whereas all you can do is complain, maybe you can't drive and get run over at the track? Maybe you got used to that EVO driving for you and you got a real car that takes some skill and effort to drive fast.

It sounds to me you are disappointed in your so called 28.5K venture. All this German rice paddle shifting garbage talk is making me sick, sure Honda could dump millions into developing a paddle shifting transmission that can outshift Keiichi Tsuchiya but what does that leave to us true enthusiasts? Nothing. The brakes are fine, invest in some pads and fluid and it will do just fine, I know at putnam park we were jabbing them from 110(top down) at the 300 mark and not having a single problem when it was time to turn in. Once again you just sound disappointed so maybe you should go buy a Mitsushitty that will leave you sitting either on the side of the road on the trip back from the track or at the actual track itself, owners know to have AAA or a trailer handy. Or how about an STI that will disintigrate its transmission sooner or later. Not to mention all turbo cars puke oil after they start aging. 350Z's are pigs so have fun there. It truly sounds like you need to go get yourself a German car though, plenty of horsepower for all those straights at the track and a bunch of junk electronics to cost you an arm and a leg when the junk gets old. Wait I know, you need a lancer they have paddle shifters, seen that commercial? You could drive the onramps all day! This entire thread is stupid.
True enthusiast? You are entitled to your opinion.

A true enthusiast would be well aware that sequential shifters were part of the original concept for the s2k, but of course you and the mensa guy knew that. As true enthusiasts. Spewage is all I saw in that and your jingoistic diatribe.

I complain because instead of giving us a significant improvement, say the M3 CSP or any equivalent, they went for a marketing effort. That is a GM-level effort and any "enthusiast" would know the difference.

So, with that logic, why is the Type-S sold in Japan?
Different markets means you sell different items, whats the big deal. I think you're looking into this too far.

If you don't like the CR I can totally see why, but who cares about the rest....

I don't think anyone wonder's why it is sold in the US...follow the money.

I think the question is why is it NOT sold in Japan if it was this great gift for the creator (who lives in Japan).
It's not a retirement gift "for" the S2000 designer - it's a gift FROM him, to us, the US enthusiasts. It's something HE wanted to give us before he retired. And it's a solid offering IMO, an enhancement of what makes an S2000 an S2000.

It might have to do with the size of each market. Honda is projecting a monthly sales rate in the JDM of only 100 units per month. Isn't that equal to the total allotment of CRs in the US?
I thought I read that originally 5000 CRs would be built, but recently that number dropped to 1400.

The USDM market is by far the biggest market for the S2000. It only makes sense to have a CR in your biggest market.
Yes, and it also would make sense to have the Type-S, all the color choices, Mugen parts from the dealer, etc, but we don't - I blame AHMC.

Is it the CR a good thing? I think that is the crux of this whole thread.

Folks are citing various reasons why it is the CR is 'good'.

One of the 'good' things about the CR cited was it's heritage with the creator...the retirement gift if you will.

However, if this is a valid premise, it makes you wonder why the creator keeps the Type-S and ships the CR over to the US.
I think the CR is nice as a one off - people want a special edition though - something aimed more at the popular market with some bells and power.

I think the CR is a nice car. It stacks up well amongst the offerings on the market.

If I had never seen a standard S (Honda simply made the CR and never the S std), I would not have anything bad to say about it. It still would not be the car for me, but it would be cool.

The heartburn comes in from seeing and knowing the S, and then seeing the 'next evolution' and getting the distinct impression of devolution when I know Honda can do better.

I have to switch garage walls now. I broke the drywall from bashing my head so hard. I have lots more walls though. Still having more fun than trying to talk about how much I like my car in this place!!! Maybe I should sell it and buy a Cayman??? At least Porsche people generally play nice with each other. Back to the new spot in the garage. . . . . Keep ripping on my CR, I have a 5,500 sf toy barn, lots of drywall to break.

You have the most awesome S2000 ever made. It puts my S2000 to shame as its so superior. I wish I had one and I envy you and all CR owners greatly. Also, I think this car shuold sell for no less than 50,000USD because its such an improved variant of our standard POSs. You are a GOD. Please let me pay to re-sheetrock your garage. I want to drink the water that graces the body panels of your car during a wash...

..better?

Seriously, if you want to feel like you made the best purchase in the world and have fellow owners of a "lesser" trim hang on your sack, buy a Nismo Z. Those are God in the Z community.

It is NOT - and NEVER WILL BE that serious.
