Default How to de-program OEM remote?

Did a search, hundreds of threads talked about programming the remote to a new car, but I couldn't find one that mentioned how to de-program it -- ie. make the car not recognize my remotes. The instructions from handaaccessories.com also doesn't talk about de-programming it either ...

Does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks.

EDIT: Moderator, please move if this should be moved to Electronics forum ... Thanks!

Why? Are you going to sell your OEM remotes and dont want anyone to have access to your car?

You would have to program into your keyless remote receiver, 3 different other remote codes. At that time, your existing code will be "kicked out". The receiver will hold only 3 codes at any given time. Without doing this, the remotes you are selling will always be recognized by your car.

Assuming that your after market alarm remote is the second code and the ones you are selling are the original code, you would have to program another 2 codes before the original one is kicked out.

There is another possibility: If your aftermarket code is different from the original code, you might try to program it 2 more times to see if it will kick out the first one.

Ya ... I saw your post from before:

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...0&#entry4370496

I was hoping that there is another way of programming it other than kicking the existing remotes out (most aftermarket alarm systems do), because that'll defeat my purpose, since I do not want any of the OEM remotes to be programmed to my car ... oh wellz ...

I don't think the aftermarket alarm will have anything to do with it the programing though. Tthe alarm system has its own relay for lock doors, and it seems like the alarm's brain's doing all the locking/unlocking/programming -- if that makes any sense at all.

Thanks anyways.

You could try disconnecting the wiring harness from the keyless receiver under the dash. However, it may disrupt other circuits that you don't want to lose.

Hmm ... I see, I'll try to see if I can figure that out from the service manual then.

Thanks.

After a few rounds of trial and error, I finally deprogrammed the remotes. The steps were simple. All you need to do it follow the instructions for programming a new remote. Except that towards the end, when you are supposed to press the Lock button for each remote, you simply don't do anything. That way, the car's remote receiver will memorize nothing ... and none of the remotes will work!!!
