Why does everyone one think street racing is so bad and twisties are good. Ninty percent of the recks I have read about were in a turn. It is easier to hurt someone enjoying the handling of this car then enjoying the acceleration.(IMHO)

I think that's a little simplified, but let me try and address it from my perspective. I think street racing is dangerous because when you're focused on beating someone at something you usually lose focus on your surroundings (ie: innocent bystanders).

Yes, the twisties can be just as dangerous and most of the accidents you see posted on this board are related to the rear breaking loose in a corner, but most of THOSE accidents are also people that don't seem to understand the limits of themselves or the nature of the car near it's limits.

More to the point of this thread, though, I don't have any issue with wanting to make the S2000 into a drag demon. I just think that there are a HUGE number of other cars out there that would make a better platform for achieving that goal...

I appreciate the need/desire to run at the strip. Plus the love for all roads, straight and curved. I bought my S because of its beautiful lines, tight suspension, and exelerating red line.
-
I have run mine at the track once because i wanted to know what it could do. With a little work, we can give mustangs and a couple of others a run for their money and appear a sleeper if they know thier cars.
-
But I also disagree w/street racing due to the insanely dangerous nature of it. Not so much for fear of myself, but what would happen to others if I lost control for some reason.
-
If you are looking for some fairly quick ways to assist in you 1/4 times, i have learned from my limmited research that replacing the 4.10 gears w/4.44 will greatly help the lul that we experience "off the line". Anyway, I do plan on doing that in the future, but am still looking for someone who has done this near me so i can experience myself b4 dumping $1000 "blindly".
-
With what ever you do to it, good luck, and enjoy your S in all that it can do. Be careful and have fun..

I bought an s2000 cause Ive always had hondas and wanted the fastest one available with minimal work but, now im willing to spend another 10 to 15g's. I want to keep it street legal, some of you misuderstood what I was saying.
I don't know what you call "minimal work" but...just curious why you would buy this car when you obviously had another 10 to 15g's available to you...you could have gotten a good used Z06 or any other Americal muscle cars and do away with all kinds of potential problems (as mentioned in above posts) you could face by trying to turn your S2000 into a "drag demon?" It's even more shocking considering that you claim to be a long time Honda driver...another victim of "brand loyalty?" Get yourself an American muscle car, and you'll crush those pesky civic si's anytime you want !

Dude it's people like you that give New Jersey drivers a bad rep!! Grow up and learn that it takes a man to not give in to the immature temptation to race another idiot at a stop light. Act like an adult and laugh at that other driver, then pull away at normal speed.

No offense or anything, but I was just wondering how to get more power ,but SOME of you guys turned it into a parental lecture. You guys sound like grumpy old men.
I'm sure most of you guys raced when you were younger because a lot of you talk about old V8's.
The new trend in this generation are imports. We work on these cars like how some of you did your old V8 muscle cars.
What did your parents say to you guys when you were teens dropping small blocks into your old Chevys?
When I'm 40, I'll probably drive a suv or minivan, but I'll still
have a, maybe not a S2000, but some kind of import in my garage that I'll be working on.

P.S. Ron, mommy and daddy didnt buy me the car, I have a good job and bought it all by myself. They didnt even have to hold my hand.

To be honest, I'm not bashing the idea of hopping up an import car. Honestly, I think it's a pretty cool idea...I just think that there are MUCH better platforms to start with than an S2000 if 1/4 mile is your goal. Can you MAKE an S a demon in the 1/4 mile? Sure...but you're gonna throw a LOT of coin at the problem to do so...

If the process of getting there is your goal go with an S, because troubleshooting and trial and error will be your mantra. If you want to go fast NOW...find a platform more conducive to power mods...

OK... Turbo Civic.. MMMM 12 - 13 secs..
Eclipse good turbo and right driver - 11 secs
BMW = 6 cylinder @ least and awsome torque...

Wanna win..

Simple N20 solution!!!

A little nitrous would solve your light to light problem..

Or if you are truley looking for a 10 sec S then.. even with 500 hp you'll have to find away to drop about 500 lbs under the stock weight!!

So your looking at carbon fiber door's.. Removing passenger seat.. and anything none essential!!!
