Hence, the word "seems" in my post, plus my hope for a dyno soon.

I'd take the European version.

This thread reminds me of that Saturday night live sketch...

Ok, if there was a matchup between the Bears and the Bulls, who would win...?

Answer: Depends on whether it's with or without mini-Ditka.

which rx7 are you talking about. i have a 94 rx-7, and it redlines at 8k. i'm sure the 1st and 2nd generations don't have higher redline. but if you want, you can make rotaries rev. pretty high...after all, it just goes around and around and around...

i'd take the 2.0.
making more power/torque with more displacement is easy...anybody can do it....

being a tenth of a second or whatever faster is meaningless to me. if i wanted the something fast i'd buy a vette or a modded rx-7 :-)

plus i'd have to change my plates from SHIFT9K to SHIFT8K

Given your initial assumptions, the 2.2.
Provided the sound was similar to the 2.0. If the 2.0 sounded like an F1 car that some articles claimed (it doesn't) and the 2.2L sounded wimpy in comparison, I'd stick with the former.

BTW, VTEC_Junkie, if the engine was bored, it would make more torque. More displacement+same efficiency = more torque, whether from boring or stroking. You say it would make more hp with same revs, that means increased torque.

I think in wanting to upgrade the S2000 with more current styled larger wheels and tires, Honda was forced to replace some parts in the suspension system to help accomondate the change. You know the old saying..."For every action there is a reaction." Perhaps Honda was trying to modernize the look without changing the specs (too much) in what makes this car work. Hence the bigger wheels and tires. I'll bet turning radius is larger with the bigger wheels. Other freshing changes are "bitch fixes." The car is still current generation and remains top grade.

What if the F22C1 had fewer engine failures?
What if the redesigned transmission oiling system led to fewer transmission problems?
These were my considerations. I decided I'd risk staying put and paying later, rather than paying $8000 to $10,000 up front to trade to an '04. Maybe after I hit 5,000 miles on my '01, I'll feel it is wearing out and I need to trade.

The Japanese and Europeans still get the 2.0 liter 9K RPM engine and because American drive like chicks we get the handicapped engine that improves torque (small increase) and sacrfices top end headroom 9000 RPM because posers do not know how to shift. How long can it be before Honda introduces an American only market for a automatic transmission for the S2000 ? There is a reason that the Japanese and the Europeans keep the 2.0 liter 9000 RPM engine and don't have the piece of crap 2.2 and it's not because the 2.2 liter is a better engine..that is for sure.
